Kansas is going to be in Kalamazoo tomorrow, too bad I'm having my graduation party then. If it's possible, should I ditch?

Realy powerful. Some tracks were really lost KANSAS classics that might have become (in a parallel universe) solid reasons to surpass the uneven results of the "Audio-Visions" album.-
Children of the shadows: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CfAZkzWS0J4
After the fire: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SvFt-SrVOak
Fair exchange: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0K5_W2j-lUI
Imagine love: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YhoEeZGJhRE
The Walsh material really shines here, becomeing at last an equal contender to fellow writer Livgren. 'After the fire' and 'Imagine love', with added production and instrumentation, would have brought further glory to the prog genre in the 80s; 'Children of the shadows' states a mre emotional richnes than other Livgren songs that are longer; 'Breakout' is brutal and catchy, the 'Belexes' of the 80s.
All these things were not meant to be. Pity of all pities!!

Kansas was one of the first bands I ever started listening to while in grade school. Since I'm from the same area, Kansas City radio played them a lot and was almost impossible NOT to hear them constantly. Even when Walsh left we got a good dose of his band Streets on the radio. You could say that this is a Kansas town.
I was out on my walk today and came to the conclusion that behind Marillion, Kansas is my second favorite band. I have them on my iPod, and while I was out I hear beauties like "A Glimpse Of Home", "The Pinnacle" and "Mysteries & Mayhem" and could feel the adrenaline rush. I don't care what anyone says, Kansas is a GREAT band. Nevermind progressive, a great band. Period. As for the genre, Kansas really should be mentioned in the same breath as Genesis, Yes, VDGG and King Crimson. Without Kansas, I wonder how progressive music would be viewed here in America. They definitely bridged the gap between the UK and the US. E |

GWAR have returned with a new guitarist to replace their guitarist who passed away last year. And they introduced this new guitarist with a cover version of Carry On Wayward Son. It is quite awful but I thought that it might be appreciated by a few. http://www.classicrockmagazine.com/music_and_videos/gwar-reveal-new-guitarist-in-kansas-cover-video/

I found this, in which Phil Ehart discusses most of Kansas' album art. Quite an interesting read.
http://www.goldminemag.com/article/phil-ehart-shares-behind-paintbrush-stories-kansas-album-art I'm glad to finally have closure on this bizarre thing: Even when I bought this thing at Circuit City, I knew something was amiss. Dave Hope was a big-bellied guy with a cowboy mustache- no way that was him! And it's not. It isn't Kerry Livgren either. Who would strap an entire keyboard around his neck in live performances? |

Nice link Rob, thanks.
"a 9-foot-tall Native American chief wearing some sort of buffalo robe and a space helmet with horns. The guy must have done a lot of drugs, but we thought it was really cool." Great artwork though. I think it's my fave of theirs.
