I just bought my first bass guitar today on ebay!  I've been wanting to learn an instrument for the longest time and I thought bass would be an okay place to start!  It's an Ibanez GSR 200 4 string.  I've read that it's a great beginner bass guitar to learn on.

Congratulations! Rarely does one find a truly good bassist -- and most of them come from prog. I wish you luck on your finger-plucking way LOL

I've been playing this Yamaha classical acoustic guitar for years, which is a beginners model.  I swear it's sound has grown better over time.  And it's a bit beat up.

The gear I use is:

1976 Les Paul Custom (too heavy. I think Gibson while they are a great guitar are way over-rated and over priced)
1988 Fender Strat-Plus with Lace Sensors (absolutely brilliant guitar)
1952 Fender Telecaster (very fast neck)
Late 1960's VoxAC30 (still have original valves but keep as spares and replaced with sovteks which are still going after 20 years)
Marshall 40W amp for small gigs (sometimes large, just use the FOH)
Digitech RP7 fx unit
Early 1980's Ovation Balladeer Acoustic/Electric
Martin D16GTE Acoustic/Electric
I had a Fender Ultra (same as Robben Ford used) but it was stolen.

Add my fretless guitar to my list....
Which of you to gain me, tell, will risk uncertain pains of hell?

I use a Fernandes Palisade acoustic guitar with Martin strings, and also a Percussion Plus drumset with Remo heads and Zildjian sticks.  Unfortunately, my cymbals are cracked and generic, so I'll be replacing them eventually.  I got the drumset for free; my parents got it for my brother, who didn't like it.  So now its mine!

I'd love to get a nicer drumset, and learn to play upright acoustic bass.

I haven't played in bars for 8-9 years, but I still go out and jam occasionally. Let's see what I still have lying about (I sold most of it off over the last few years):

Instruments
Ovation Celebrity Deluxe 12 string acoustic
Ovation Custom Elite 6 string acoustic
Martin D-35 (1980)
Fender Telecaster (natural 1976)
Complete sets of Lee Oskar blues harps (in major diatonic and natural minor scales)

Equipment
Mesa Boogie Mark IV amp
Fender Vibro-Champ amp
Mackie pre-amp, power amp and mixer
Celestion loudspeakers and monitors
Shure M58 and Shure Green Bullet mics
Boss foot pedals (a variety!)

Update:

Main recording setup is:

Ensoniq ESQ-1 synthesizer --> Alesis Quadraverb Multi F/X unit --> M-Audio 192 PCI interface --> Reaper

I think this is about as sophisticated as I'm going to get until I need a mixer. And it's looking bad now because there's a korg Electribe for sale on a site that I really think I might want. Gear Acquisition Syndrome. Killing me softly. :(

I had a Fender Ultra (same as Robben Ford used) but it was stolen.

Besides we choose the same icon, we also own the same guitar. I also have a 76' Custom. The features are: wine red, 3-part maple neck, prefix serial number, "butter creme cake"- body (a thin piece of maple sandwitched between the mahogany), 5 kilos weight, all of whitch it makes this axe not exactly a collectors item. Also it is not original cause the first owner replaced the bridge PU with a splittable SD Jeff Beck (that is great by the way). But its tone is fantastic and so I'll keep it. What did you pay for yours? Mine was 1800 Euros, ten years ago. For the original post, here 's the rest of my stuff:
Music Man Axxis Sport P90
Taylor T5
Squire Telecaster
'83 Yairi DY 31 Acoustic
Fender Jazz Bass Japan
Sundown 100W 1x12 Combo
Roland Jazz Chorus 160 w. assorted stomp boxes
AER Domino acoutic amp
Sonor Signature Drums w. Paiste cymbals
Korg wavedrum
Audio Technica and Sure microphones
