Is 2 years a demonstration of patience? Only joking.
http://www.progarchives.com/forum/forum_posts.asp?TID=37407&PID=2560926 But I think Mahogany Frog are deserving of an entry in the annals of ProgArchives. Don't you? DO5 is a massive album! I fully appreciate how busy major contributors are here and I truly admire your work and admit, I would not have the time or resources to do what you do. But I do feel compelled to recommend Mahogany Frog to progheads who enjoy a psychedelic Floyd circa 'Saucerful', Focus circa 'III' or Iron Butterly circa 'In-a-Gadda-da-Vida' and enjoy the sort of retro style of Diagonal and Future Kings of England; even though Mahogany Frog are Canadian. And there are references there too, with a Post Rock flavour only Godspeed You! Black Emperor and Silver Mt. Zion can evoke. C'mon guys - give them the recognition they deserve. And I promise to contribute more reviews to this ite if you do. Quid pro quo and all that jazz . Cheers, Mart |

My father was a beekeeper before me; his father was a beekeeper. I want to follow in their footsteps. And their footsteps were like this. (Runs screaming) "AAAAAAAH! I'm covered in beeeeees!" - Izzard

This'll be moved to the Suggest New Bands forum.
Been a long time since I've listened to Mahogany Frog. It was actually added to the ProgFreak cart (the one we use for PA suggestions) before for Jazz-Rock Fusion. to me it sounds like one for "Art Rock" -- and for Eclectic. It is PA worthy/ should be in PA. Definite avant edge.. Excellent music. Here is the myspace site: www.myspace.com/mahoganyfrog And official site: http://mahoganyfrog.com And http://cdbaby.com/cd/mahoganyfrog I will add it to the Eclectic chart and mention it to the Eclectic team. Oh this is good. Edited by Logan - March 07 2009 at 20:24 |

I have In Blue and like it quite a lot. Didn't realize they were not in PA. They should.

I don't have the album but this seems good for Eclectic to me, what do you think Assaf since you know the music more?

I believe Eclectic fits them fine, at least from that album I have. As a side note, I really should get their other albums. |

I just read that Mahogany Frog will be playing ProgDay 2010. They are the first band signed up. 3 songs from their album Do 5 are available for download from the ProgDay website. http://www.progday.net/ProgDay-MusicPlayerPage.html
