Remember that even though you might feel fine, you should not do any sports for a few weeks - otherwise you risk complications - like inflammation of the heart.

^ it's interesting how now two people replied to my question and didn't manage to quote any source that says that those vaccines are effective.

BTW: I don't believe in homeopathy at all.

Have you been reading homeopathic newsletters or something? Jenny McCarthy and Bill Maher are not qualified to speak about vaccines...

I can't imagine a credible source saying something like that.

Could be your sources, I'm just saying LOL

To the skeptics out there, I think this one this year did actually mess with me, but at 44 I've had flu experiences that were much worse.  So make your choice and best of luck.  May you stay in good health...

By the way, for those of you advocating against flu shots, you may be pleased to know that my arm is still freaking sore.  It will be just my luck if this season a second mutation comes around and gets me. LOL

I'm not telling people not to get a flu shot. No reason to get upset.

I'm not getting upset or anything, but your argument for not getting a vaccination is based on a mishap that happened one year.

Nothing you can say will convince him. Just like nothing you can say will sway a conspiracy theorist from believing we never went to the moon.

Personally, I think the answer is simple; if somebody holds a philosophy that makes them feel above everybody else, they'll defend it to the death. So these folks can feel superior all the want for not getting those dreaded vaccines, while the rest of us 'fools' can rest easy knowing we're actually protected. Wink

You're right nothing can convince me that people shouldn't be able to refuse vaccines based on their own cost-benefit analyses. Which is the only thing I'm arguing about. Maybe you should actually read my posts before you say nonsense and try to brand me as some crank science advocate.

Was that what I was doing? I apologize. Smile

Not really that's just a result of your reading of my argument.

Good point.

I've never had a flu shot. Although I lead a very unhealthy lifestyle, I rarely ever get sick, and when I do get sick, I try to go to places with high population densities such as malls and airports.

LOL

I understand your guys skepticism, but the odds of the vaccine doing more harm than good are negligible, especially compared to the harm the disease the vaccine prevents. I personally wouldn't have got it if I didn't have people force me to.

drink some juice and get some bed rest, you'll be fine you big baby

Wow. That was such a well-articulated argument, and so relevant to my question, too! My whole outlook on this issue has now changed! really!

If you can't defend your position with actual debate, being an a****le and resorting to name-calling is the second-best thing, I suppose.

Might have to start a poll on whether anybody on ProgArchives has a sense of humor.

Why so serious Proggers?

I think my wife got inoculated the hard way.  Dead

We're trying to get the kids vaccinated but the pediatrician has a hard time getting doses in, and they fly off the shelf as soon as they get them.
