Most of all 'GENESIS' albums for me, with 'FOXTROT' being a prime example. It contains one of the best, if not the best tracks ever in 'Supper's Ready' but I can't even listen to the rest of the album

This As A Brick!

But seriously, I agree with you on AHM, but not Meddle. I LOVE everything on Meddle except Seamus & San Tropez.

Other examples:

Yes - Going For The One (I very much like the album, but Awaken is by far the main reason)

Rush - 2112 (I can take or leave most of side 2, other than A Passage To Bangkok)

^echolyn-mei only HAS one song, so of course it fits the bill! I think the purpose of this thread is to determine the CDs that only contain one or two good songs but are considered very excellent albums.

Off the top of my head, I can think of a few:

ELP - Tarkus
Awesome title track + filler

Yes - Relayer
Don't get me wrong, I LOVE this CD, in my Yes top 3...but neither Sound Chaser nor To Be Over are classics, they are merely good, well-structured and listenable songs. I have a hard time accepting the fact that many feel this is Yes' greatest achievement, when Close to the Edge follows the same formula (1 epic + 2 mini-epics) and perfects it.

Dream Theater - A Change Of Seasons. The title song is very nice (my DT's fav) but the rest is a crap

ELP - Tarkus. The same as said above

Sorry,I thought the topic creator meant an album that was only one long song.

Yes - "Talk", this song is superb but the rest of the album is very far from its quality.

Please, don't forget Mike Oldfield's Amarok: Just one song (even in the CD version) that tends to be overlooked because most proggers just don't know Oldfield post-70s.

Camel - Breathless .. well I guess this isn't considered an excellent album, but Echoes is really amazing.

Shylock - Ile De Fievre has one of the best prog songs ever, but the rest is uninteresting.

ELP - Tarkus obviously..

Genesis: We can't dance - Fading lights

Dream Theater: Change of seasons - only the title track is worth the money

It Bites: Once around the world - 14 minute titletrack is brillant, 4get the rest

Spocks Beard: V - Into the great nothing

Transatlantic: Live in Europe - Stranger in your soul

Magma - Udu Wudu Side one's passable but it's De Futura that justifies it all.

After Crying - Megalázottak és Megszomorítottak The first song is immense, in every sense. The remainder of the album is just propping it up.

The Flower Kings - Unfold the Future Well okay, more than two songs but I could quite happily wave 65% of that album goodbye.
