So good I forgot it was a debut. Wink

I don't know if I could say it was the best, but Spock's Beard's The Light is a pretty damn good debut.

Perfect debuts IMO:
King Crimson "In the Court of the Crimson King"
Skin Alley "Skin Alley"
Pär Lindh Project "Gothic Impressions"
Pavlov's Dog "Pampered Menial"
Pell Mell "Marburg"
Area "Arbeit Macht Frei"

Marillion's and Spock's Beard's first albums I appreciate too.

Magma's Kobaia is pretty hard to beat as a début from a long-time band, and not many would kick off with a double-album.  Lots of débuts I love, though.

Just a fanboy passin' through.

The Mars Volta - De-loused in the Comatorium. Not only a great debut, but their best work thus far.
Rush - Time Machine Tour - August 7th in Seattle!

Script for a Jester's Tear is easily my favorite Marillion album (and I still can't stand it) so I'll go ahead and mention Frank Zappa's Freak Out!

I am quite surprised so many people named "In the Court of the Crimson King". Not because it is not a good album but because it contains "Moonchild", a track which makes up a third of the album and which is hated by most,.

All of the above apart from Hybris, because I've not heard it.

I'm with Walter on this one. It's always been my most played of Gabriels albums.

I'm probably out on a wing here, but I always really loved the Atomic Rooster debut album. Sadly the line up only lasted about 2 weeks after it's release.

Also, Isn't it a damn shame that Trespass wasn't the Genesis debut, I could certainly live without Genesis To Revelation. LOL
