In case nobody heard, the mixing and recording on the new James LaBrie album, titled Static Pulse (or Impulse), is complete. I haven't heard anything on the release date yet, though. Is anyone else excited for this? Smile

EDIT: I've now heard the release date is December 2010

hey DT-PT, thanks for the information... did you know if James used the same musicians than the last one...? that is for me one of the best albums of the last 7 or 8 years... great mix between hard rock with electronic beats... I'm excited as well as you... great to know that...!!!

I looked into it, and it appears the musicians are the same. Smile

Update: Must check my sources better. The release date is September 27th in Europe, and September 28th in North America.

Some info on the sound:

Static Pulse features the immensely talented longtime songwriting partner and keyboardist Matt Guillory. Another notable performance is Peter Wildoer from metal titans DARKANE on drums and screaming vocals. The group is rounded out by Marco Sfogli on guitars and Ray Riendeau on bass. Static Pulse is set for a September 27th release on InsideOutMusic and was mixed and mastered by the renowned Jens Borgen (Opeth, Katatonia).

LABRIE states: “Hi everyone. The release of Static Pulse is one that the whole band is psyched about. This is modern Metal and as heavy and relevant as any other band out there going in a similar musical direction. There are riffs that will blow your head off and melodies both musically and vocally that are hypnotic. Get in the driver’s seat and let the ears bleed. Enjoy and see you out there with a tour to follow up and support this release.”

Guillory further comments: “One year and two months in the making and we're finally done. I'm really pleased with the way this record came out. James sounds fantastic, as well as the rest of the guys.
Without a doubt, it's our heaviest record thus far yet at the same time, it's also our most melodic. I can't wait for everyone to hear it.”

One of the songs has been released!

http://www.noisecreep.com/2010/07/27/james-labrie-one-more-time-song-premiere/

Also, there is some difficulty figuring out whether the album is Static Pulse or Static Impulse. JLB said Static Pulse on his forum and a lot of sources say the same, but many sources also say Static Impulse and the keyboardists' Facebook says Impulse. I guess we'll have to find out. In the mean time, enjoy the song. Smile

Good description for one over rated drummer in DT!

Not sure he would know what to do if you took the snare drum out of the whole thing!

I swear 90% of haters have heard very little DT. Ermm

Besides, the drummer is not Portnoy, it is Peter Wildoer.

Well, knowing Peter, he'd figure it out quicker than anyone would notice the snare was gone in the first place.
