Buon Anno!!!

to all my fellow RPI lovers!

Why must my spell-checker continually underline the word "prog"?

maybe something from the 90's since i have heard some 80's but not checked out anything, to quote PA's favourite phrase "post-89"

There are some good 90s bands but I think the 00s bands are even better.

What kind of prog are you looking for.....there is a wide range of styles out there.

When it comes to traditional RPI, there is a good case for claiming that the best RPI was released post '89. Check out that Tempio Delle Clessidre video I posted one page ago. Other bands is Castello Di Atlante, Deliriums newest album, Conqueror, Hostsonaten, Three Monks, Calliope, Finisterre, Randone, RanestRane, Ubi Maior and some I have forgotten.

In short; RPI is like the Ferrari and their F1 team:  Both a great history and a great presence.

This is my personal translation of Insolita Parte di Me, 2nd track from Il Tempio delle Clessidre's album...

I'm certainly not the best translator around here ... Embarrassedeh eh heheh so, please, be kind ... aha hah ah

IL TEMPIO DELLE CLESSIDRE                                       THE TEMPLE OF HOURGLASSES

INSOLITA PARTE DI ME                                                    UNUSUAL PART OF ME

Falce di luna, insolita parte di me,                                 Sickle moon, unusual part of me,

la strada buia precipita nella realtà,                             the dark road suddenly falls into reality,

singolo volo di un’anima in lotta quaggiù,                   single flight of a soul fighting downhere,

tengo il respiro per quello che non è già più.              I hold my breath for what there is no more.

Cerchi ripetuti in modo alternato                                    Repeated alternate circles,

gocce d’assenzio per un mondo ritrovato                    absinth’s drops for a recovered world

sta aspettando me, ora aspetta me,                              which is waiting for me, now waits for me,

con la vaga percezione di quello che non c’è.              with vague perception of what there is not.

Come se la mente corresse con la luce                        As if mind was running with light

supero il presente, m’inoltro nell’ignoto,                       I cross the present (time), I enter the unknown,

tutto ciò che trovo è filtrato dall’inganno                       all I find is filtered by deception

di un’intelligenza ambigua e misurata.                          of an ambiguous and measured intelligence.

Senza guardare mai inizio a raccontare                        Without even looking around I start to tell

quel che negli occhi altrui riesco a vedere                    what I manage to see in other people’s eyes;

ma l’incomprensione s’impadronisce di me                 but misunderstanding takes possession of me

tutto svanisce in sguardi spenti e nulla più.                  all vanishes in dull looks and nothing more.

Così tutti i miei sforzi non mi hanno fatto sapere          So all my efforts haven’t let me know

mentre avrei voluto solo stare ad aspettare                  while I only would have liked to stay and wait

perché chi non vive non può essere felice,                     because who doesn’t live can’t be happy,

s’allontana invano dall’umana condizione,                     drifts aways in vain from the human condition,

spinto da una malsana fame della mente                       driven by mind’s unwholesome hunger

a filosofeggiare, perso nel suo centro.                            to philosophize, lost in his own center.

If my perceived views is promoting the new scene and it's bands; I am more than happy with that. But frankly, I am not taking any side in a debate like that. A debate I am sure will rage on an on for the next 100 years. I just says "thank you" when given the choice between two types of cakes. Pre or post '89; it all sounds excellent to me in my twin turbo rocking chair (with climate control).

Agree. Malibran must be included in this list.

(which reminds me; I should move them to the top of my to-review list)

Check out the albums from both Black Widow Records and Altrock Records. Those are a good start.
