2. also 5 things about what makes Genesis great or apeal to you as a fan of music
3. 5 general things about art rock/progressive pop as well, and Genesis role/contrebution in the genre
same concept as the 10cc, Roxy Music Supertamp and Queen one

ok i give the first shot to try to make a topp 5 list of my favorite Genesis songs, (without clinging to 6 or 7 or 15  it is that hard)
1. Firth to Fifth (first time I heard this on SEbP I was in tears, almost. it is s powerfull halflong epic which is like a real workout for youre musical brain-cells who works beyond capasety during this song)
2. Watcher of the Skye (epic intro, complex midle section, with almost blastbeats from mr Phil)
3. Suppers Ready (if Firth ot Fifth is hard-work, Suppers Ready is a 12 course dinner in a Michelin resteurant)
4. Seven Stones
5. Dancing with the Moonlit Night
(6 the cinema show, 7, Carpet Crawlers, 8 Home by the Sea) could not resist 
1. their total understanding of Harmonie in their progrock primetime, and later managed to create atmospheric tunes wich make the other New Wave bands crumble.
2. Five fantastic musicians, souls, dieties whos music reach such beautie, flaveour, and substance, which the youth of today sadly misses.
3. fantastic keybord solos and chords, crisp druming, droning bass, magical guitar and great storytelling by the courtbard mr Gabriel.
4. their nostalgic sound of the English countryside.
5. eh, the Mellotron intro in Watcher of the Sky, the Keybord Solo in FtF, Wilows Farm, the Lamb (in its enternaty).
3. the put a new meaning to the word melodie they widened the specter of Harmonies used in rock, made rock more cinematic.
such a fantastic band

2 - Visions of Angels
3 - Firth of Fifth
4 - Looking for Someone
5 - Watcher of the Skies
it changes.....there are so many many more... you may notice i´m a fan of trespass=)

^of course i will thats the fun about creating concepts, you stick with it and develop them, like a good marketing trick, you trye something, it might work, it might FAIL, or it goes ERROR, and I have had them all.
failed, succeded, but this time I think ive got my invention settled.
soon KC, GG, VDGG, PF, ELP, Rush and probably some else (i only need more albums by them all to gett some perspective)

2. also 5 things about what makes Genesis great or apeal to you as a fan of music:
- Tony Banks, no doubt. His distinguished style, with unique synth approach, thrilling mellotron and original piano/organ work.
- Peter Gabriel. His lyrics are a big part of my enjoyment, especially in The Lamb. His vocals are fanastic as well.
- Steve Hackett. While not a favorite guitarist of mine, he definitely is part of my big Genesis enjoyment, without his subtlety it wouldn't have been the same.
- The compositions overall, they were very different from Yes' more rock approach and of ELP's heaviness and classical-led.

To list top 10 of Rush was so difficult but Genesis top 10 is impossible. I prefer Rush for their continuing and for their love for their own band also for the 18 albums and the courage of LeeLifesonPeart (united as one); even though Genesis have less albums Genesis music is more artistical.

Also this I could not say better. I also like the influence of Bach on their music. (Even if they do not say it, so it sometimes verges on plagiarism as on 'Horizons').

all have contributed with nice lists of songs and that I think is nice,
also good to hear all the different elements people find in one band, that is what is nice with prog bands, they cover many layers (in the audioable sphere), which differs from ear to ear, and moods is different to each individual.
