Go to the site, watch the teaser and the director presentation.

It's a fundraising event for now, but I think the most important thing is to watch and see what it's about, and spreading the word if you find this venture worthwhile. It's by spreading the word as much as possible that this project can get off the ground, they do need a lot of partners and the more people becoming aware of this project the more possible contributors will get to know about it.

Main thing is to watch the presentation for yourself, and see if this is something you feel is important to support one way or another.
