I have mixed feelings about additions like these. They're not even "prog related", but maybe "something prog listeners might like". On one side I like the fact I can find lots of bands that are not strictly prog in here, because I listen to a lot of different stuff and PA is a precious guide so, the more the better. On the other side, it's still PROG Archives.
What's my point? I don't know... Tongue

As to the poll, I didn't vote. I like them both equally and it doesn't honestly make sense to discriminate between two such different artists.

Not really a fan of either but I guess if I had to choose I'd pick NIN because I really like Burn.

I would say NIN strikes me as a better songwriter overall.

As a fan of both, I don't think so.  Kind of depends on how heavy you like your songwriting.  Tori is oozing and overflowing with songs. Not that quantity necessarily makes them better songs.
Released date are often when it it impacted you but recorded dates are when it really happened...

I'm listening to NIN right now (just bought With Teeth today).  I don't have any Tori Amos, but as her name comes up frequently hereso  I should at least check some of her stuff out.  I guess I can start by scanning this thread for potential places to start.

Yeah, I was really only thinking of one album when I said that, and that would be the Ghosts cd, and Tori has not really done anything similar.

Ah, but Ghosts doesn't have any singing, so technically not an album of songs, which reminds me Adrian Belew has worked with both.  Also, for those who like things heavier, check out her cover of Raining Blood.

Well for sure he is not a better singer than ToriLOL. But still, I am think the songwriting (even though there isnt any vocals) is (on that album) is extremely great.

I would certainy  prefer listening to NiN over Modern Talking, Britney,Backstreet Boys and their male and female ilk,  most nu metal,  most grunge, most punk, rap, techno, and that sort of junk, Cannibal Corpse and their ilk, and  of course  Reznor's disciple Brian Warner,  "mulatós"   music, but I am afraid  that probably I named almost  everything, so  Tori Amos windshere, even if I am hardly a  big fan of her.
