Well maybe it was a bit much to expect people to remember the piano riff from Kate Bush's December Will Be Magic Again.

Seems like I've been stumping people a bit so here's one so easy it's redundant to guess- it's more to illustrate that yes, this band's been sampled too. Your kids may have been listening to classic prog acts all the time and never even knew it.

Well done Easy Money.

Another one from a very well known artist but the song itself is kind of obscure.

Driving Me Backwards by Eno, that was easy.
I can really hear You and I in the above sample now. I'm surprised I couldn't hear it before.

Well done! I myself had no idea for that one untill I looked it up. (I hope you actually guessed it rather than doing the same.)

Well done Snow Dog!

Alright, here's a beat I really love from the excellent producer Black Milk (not that crazy about the MC) and it is built around a sample from a legendary prog song. Not some prog-related Bowie type sample Snow Dog, a real prog band. Thing is, though everyone's heard this song, I think the sample is virtually unrecognisable. Can anyone get it?

Here's an example of "progressive rap" that uses a prog sample which should be pretty easy to identify if you're a devotee of the band. The MCs, Slug, Aesop Rock and MF Doom are among some of the most acclaimed in the underground and it's about video games too!

put up the song in new page,

I think it's Kraftwerk, not sure on the songtitle

I've got a lot more of these lined up but despite the praise the thread is getting (thanks guys) the guessing seems to have dried up a bit. Do people want me to do some more?

Hmmmm...I was trying to think of a PROG sample as the thread title suggests. Really that one wasn't worth the effort to be honest.

Drum sample my arse.

The second stumper in a row I see! I understand though because while this is a very well known song, the sample doesn't have a lot of character. It's one of those ones where you wonder why the producer didn't just recreate it himself.

Last clue: Artist's name begins with D.

No one's got it yet but to help you out, it's specifically the drum part that begins at :34.

I'm guessing, but it reminds me of parts of Mighty Echoes by Eloy.

Either way, great thread and has given me some subversive music ideas for my wedding. :)

Best thread I encountered in a while. I'll just hazard a guess here, Camera Eye?
