Here's some of the bands I enjoy:

Les Rallizes Denudes
Aihiyo
Far East Family Band
JACKS
Yonin Bayashi

As you may notice these are more psychedelic rock as progressive, so I would like to know some good japanese prog rock, thanks!

Dude two threads is a bit overkill...

right now im actually listening to the amazing japanese band Ghost who come extremely highly reccomended by me. Their album Hypnotic Underworld (which im currently blaring) is probably their most acessable!

Another band on the metal end of the spectrum is Sigh their album Imaginary Sonicscape is a masterpiece of unsusual metal.

Boredoms are also great especially if you like Kraut rock or the more intense end of psychadellic and space rock.

one of my favorite bands of all time Boris is japanese but they arn't really prog although they do lean twards psychedellic and even post rock at times. If you havn't heard them you should make a point of doing so.

Not sure that Far East Family Band should be considered prog ... specially given its producer on the first album, when the idea was to creative something that tripped out a lot.

It was very nice music ... and very trippy and neat to put on your turntable, but I am not sure that it was anything bombastic or super nice that stood out like a sore thumb ...
Music is not just for listening ... it is for LIVING ... you got to feel it to know what's it about! Not being told!

What's your opinion on Japanese avant-prog?  If you want suggestions for that, I've been diving head-first into it for a while now, I can probably help out some. Wink

Satori by Flower Travellin Band - Psychedelic
Barren Dream by Mr. Sirius - Canterbury
Technodelic by Yellow Magic Orchestra - Electronic
Misty Moon by Outer Limits - Symphonic
Debon by Brast Burn - Krautrock
Interpose by Interpose - Eclectic

If you like Far East Family Band you should try Nihonjin by Far Out - one of the best psychedelic albums I´ve heard from Japan.

Kenso - fusion
nuito - kickass japanese math rock
Mouse on the Keys - as the name would suggest, acoustic-piano-driven math-ish rock

Given you seem to like the more psychedelic stuff, here's what I'd look out for:

Christine 23 Onna
Karuna Khyal
The Taj Mahal Travellers
Brast Burn
Ghost
Samurai
Happy End
Sadistic Mika Band
Far Out
Acid Mothers Temple
Flower Travellin' Band
Shinki Chen
Akira Ishikawa & Count Buffalo
Nobukazu Takemura
Datetenryu

I only know one artist from Japan which I really admire and I must recommend: Hiromi Uehara. Incredible keyboard player and some really cool compositions.

The few Japanese Prog bands I have : Far Out (pre-cursor to FEFB)
Far East Family Band
Sadistic Mika Band
Kitaro (went all electronic-Prog into New-Age)
Bi Kyo Ran
There's a Zeuhl (i.e. Magma styled) band called Ruins, supposed to be insanely heavy and impressive......
Oh - I forgot about the E.L.P. styled Ars Nova.   They were initially a female trio who truly give Emerson and his buddies a run for their money.......... Bassist Kyoko Kanazawa was gorgeous AND could play a mean Rickenbacker............

Starless...one hell of a great mid 80's prog rock band with balls (yet not a metal band for sure) and a female vocalist. "Silver Wings" is a great album.

Melt-Banana, the people on my profile pic, are a Japanese noise band that might interest some. Boredoms came out with my favourite Asian album, Super ae and Acid Mother's Temple have some crazy stuff like 'Psycho Buddha' that could be what you're looking for.
There is no dark side in the moon, really... Matter of fact, it's all dark...
