FROM.UZ is back in 2011!  10T Records announces the release of the brand new double CD/DVD combo, “Quartus Artifactus,” by FROM.UZ on May 16, 2011, with a retail street date release to follow on June 21.  The boys from Uzbekistan are back with this new release to once again showcase their amazing musical skills in a new collection of performance tracks.

“Quartus Artifactus” is a collection of songs from all three of the band’s previous releases, “Audio Diplomacy”, “Overlook” and “Seventh Story” – newly arranged and played in a prog-chamber format, with a less electric, more acoustic sound. The album includes a full concert DVD, with behind the scenes supplemental material and 2 CDs of the individual tracks. The sound is a gentler, friendlier From.uz, but retains the intensity of the originals while bringing in some beautiful acoustic interpretations.

“Live performance is where From.uz really explode and take on a whole new vitality,” says 10T Records president, Steve Carroll.  “This collection takes their best material and puts a great new twist on it by paring it down to primarily acoustic instrumentation, bringing a softer, more intimate atmosphere to the table, without sacrificing any of the fire or complexity.”

You can listen to the samples of new Quartus Artifactus album at band's official site www.fromuzband.com or at 10T site http://10trecords.com/artists/genres/progressive-experimental/fromuz/discography/

One pass through the DVD and this thing is great.  No new songs unfortunately but the acoustic guitar gives such a different feel to the songs all completely rearranged.  Good stuff! 4 out 5 on the DVD alone.

I notice we have the band lsited as Fromuz, without the full stop after the M. Can you clarify the correct way to show the band name please.

They were called Fromuz on their earlier albums.  On their last album they changed to From.Uz.

Yes, band's name is FROM.UZ. We added dot when we released our 3rd album Seventh Story. Can you please change FROMUZ to FROM.UZ. Also we would like to change the picture and the history. The newest history of FROM.UZ you can find here http://www.fromuzband.com/progressive-rock-band/ Thanks a lot!

The band has undergone 2 changes since the original name, which was The Fromuz. After I became part of their team, and 10T signed the band, the name was shortened simply to Fromuz. When Andrew Mara-Novik (bass) & Vladimir Badirov (drums) split with Albert Khalmurzaev (keyboards) & Vitaly Popeloff (guitar) after their second release, "Overlook", there was a problem, as the original 4 had agreed that there would only be one FROMUZ, the band of the original 4 members. Other names were considered, but in the end it was decided to simply add the period/dot between FROM & UZ to distinguish the first lineup with what ever came after.

"Seventh Story" marked the first release with the new lineup: Vitaly Popeloff, Al Khalmurzaev & the addition of Igor Elizov (keyboard & grand piano), Ali Izmailov (drums) & Sur'at Kasimov (bass).

"Quartus Artifactus" features this same lineup. However, after QA, both Ali & Sur'at left the band.

The core remains Vitaly Popeloff (guitars), Igor Elizov (keyboards) and Al Khalmurzaev, now on bass. The band is currently trying out new drummers.
