Great album, pretty trippy indeed and very unique, I think trance-jazz would be a good term for it. It's a transitional album between his jazz/fusion period and the later funky stuff, and I think it combines the best of both. It's my favorite of the Mwandishi trilogy; of all the Hancock albums I have it's tied with Maiden Voyage (Which is essential if you like pure jazz.Thumbs Up)

I am not joking.  I hated it the first time I heard it, but now I like it very much.  Not as a prog album, though.  As a pop album.

I've not heard any of their others, so I can't compare it.
