Meh, Aube is only on here because of the process of making his music, which is not just turning knobs on electronic equpiment and machines, like other noise artists.

I could be wrong on that, but that is the only reason i can see for him being here.

When I asked about the addition of Throbbing Gristle about 3 or 4 years ago i was told they had no place here because they were industrial or something. I don't feel so foolish now.

A worthy addition in my opinion.

Years ago someone played me a song by Throbbing Gristle and it sounded like someone being interviewed, about mailing pornography, while over weird noises. That was pretty much the whole thing LOL
I can't believe this! It was the very first thing I heard from them in a record shop. I collected everything from T.G. and never found this particular recording. The conversation between man and woman off "Heathen Earth" is somewhat like it , but no.....this one was different.

Nice!
Glad you know the joy, but you don't know what it was? Cry

I really don't wanna listen to all their stuff and find it either LOL

Did you guys know that Genesis P'Orridge is now a transsexual?
He always had a weird look to him in the early days of TG, now it
fits together a little better.

I didn't mean that to sound offensive.  I don't know what other transsexuals looked like
before their hormone changes, etc.  I think he intentionally was trying to look weird
in the early days!

No, Genesis P.Orridge never "looked weird". He was just ugly.
And now, she's ugly.

But Marissa Martinez, singer/guitarist of Cretin, was an average guy who turned into a beautiful woman.

Anyway, back to the topic.

I do think it kind of ironic that Genesis P Orridge is on PA now.

No real thoughts one way or the other as I don't really understand the different catagories of prog anyway (Or care).

Fad Gadget next up?  Cabs?
Help me I'm falling!

Fad Gadget? No: too much "straight" electronic new wave.

Cabaret Voltaire? Hum... Maybe for their first years, from 1974 to 1981, not for the following years.

T.G. were suppose to be a bit of a joke anyway. Especially back in the late 70's. They are not really that much different from  "The GTO'S, Wild Man Fischer, or the Residents. I suppose it may have been the punk thing which seperated their appearance from those bands, however they are just as strange. Throbbing Gristle's recordings were like film. "After Cease to Exist" was like that. They were all about noise and not music, however they had these creepy tapes brought in by Peter C. and it played like a film. The noise surrounded the tapes. I used to get a kick out of their studio albums. I wasn't fond of their live recordings ....for example "Funeral in Berlin".  After Cease was live but felt studio. Here is a compilation I made:

Hamburger lady
20 Jazz Funk Greats
Weeping
E-Coli
Journey Through A Body
Excerpt from In the Shadow of the Sun (voices)
Excerpt from Heathen Earth (voices)
Persuasion
Catholic Sex
What A Day
