Topic: Invisible Touch vs We Can't Dance Posted: July 18 2011 at 14:28 |
Another Genesis poll? Well yes and it's between the two most commercial and probably hated among Prog fans. I'm kinda excited to see how this one goes. I personally go with Invisible Touch because it just has seamless flow between all the tracks. They all feel like they belong.

None of them did it for me, and still remain quite empty in my book.

Invisible Touch has more memorable songs than We can't Dance, hence my vote

Equally weak overall, but both have a couple of good tracks: Domino, Land of Confusion, Fading Lights, No son of Mine..

Invisible Touch has a great sound, and I like all of the songs, although "Anything She Does" is a bit weak. We Can't Dance suffers from the fact that in the age of cd a band thinks they should have to fill in an hour of music and has a few fillers, but also: it misses intensity. I like "Fading Lights" but it is a far cry from the early epic works. I choose IT.

Invisible Touch is their best album of the post Hackett period. For me anyway.

Neither. Two uninteresting songs.

I used to have the first album and have only heard the hits off the second, which I have in video format as part of a compilation, so damned if I know which one is better.

I think they're both pretty good. Invisible Touch has a better group of songs overall. We Can't Dance has a few feeble attempts to get their "prog" back, and while they aren't terrible, they do water the album down somewhat. Plus there's more filler tracks like "Live Forever", which are probably Mike and the Mechanics rejects. Invisible Touch on the other hand... I can't really think of any songs on that one I dislike.

I like them both, but Invisible Touch just gets it.

We Can't Dance by far. Invisible Touch hasn't aged well - I really don't like the sound. The album feels tense, I don't feel well listening to it. WCD is more laid back, and the sound is much better than IT. I can find four good songs there.

This, but Fading Lights gives We Can't Dance my vote, even though Invisible Touch was the second CD I ever bought, back in 1986 when I began to accumulate CDs instead of vinyl.
Edit: went with "both"

We Can't Dance for me has the best overall songs. It is really only the title tracks of both that bug me!
