Topic: Arena! Posted: August 14 2011 at 10:38 |
I am just listening to Arena's album "The Visitor", my mate sent me this and the following albums "Immortal?", "Contagion" & "Peppers Ghost", I had never heard anything by them until yesterday and I am impressed on 1st listen. Any long time fans out there?

Yep, and it's nice to see a thread opened for this great band
I would recommend Arena to anyone who likes a lot of pomp and symphony in their neo prog, and the forthcoming new album should, I hope, be one of the highlights of 2011.

I'm excited about their latest album, especially with John Jowitt returning to the fold. Since Clive's been busy with Pendragon's big shift in musical direction and Mick Pointer's been hitting the nostalgia trail playing old Script for a Jester's Tear material, they must have quite the backlog of compositional ideas to fall back on in crafting the album.

Certainly top notch neo-prog. I really like Pride and The Visitor. Wasn't so keen on Immortal? but it's been ages since I listened to it.
And good to hear about a new album. I'll probably be checking it out.
