I buy the albums or burn the odd CDR lent from a friend or the library. (i have bought an estimated 4000 vinyls and some 1000 cds throughout my life so I think I am entitled to a bit of copying).
I have not come to grasp (or accepted) the MP3 sound quality and the technology around it. I know I am fighting a lost battle , but I only really switched to Cd in 92, so I am not in hurry for downloads, alkthough I am plainly aware that I am missing on opportunities.

If you want to listen to more prog, buying the album is the only
sensible method. The artists want to live too. Anything but buying is
ripping off the artist.

I agree with Jean. Only albums that are no longer available should be copied on tape from a friend. And as soon as they are available again one should buy those albums.

I buy cd's off Ebay. On average AT LEAST 10 cd's a week... Cheap.
I only buy full priced cd's if it's something I HAVE to have... (Octavarium... Fozzy's "All The Remains" etc).

In about 95% of the cases I buy the albums.
Sometimes I get copies from friends. Sometimes I get something from the Internet. The last option is just to try things out.

I voted for albums, but maybe im not so honest. Does downloading one or two songs from an album to see if you like it count as downloading??? I never download a full album

I buy albums , but most of the time I download one or two songs of the band to see if I like them! If I already have an album from the band, then I buy it withou the downloading process.

Usually buying, sometimes downloading albums rare to find or those not favourite but which I would like to listen, rarely burning CDs from friends originals.

Yep, same here. I download samples from bands I don't know, and if I like what I hear, I will go buy the album.

Well spoken, Baldjean.... and with ebay & amazon around, there is really very little excuse.

Music has always been a matter of energy to me. On some nights I believe that a car with the needle on empty can run 50 more miles if you have the right music very loud on the radio. Hunter S Thompson

I only download my songs etc. to test out the artist and make my judgements and opinions before shelling out my money on something that I may not like.
Or to try out new artists that aren't particularly heard of.
