Got inspired to do this because I heard the 33 and a half minute long version of Circle in the Round for the first time today. Its recorded as early as 1967 and arguably his first radical fusion track, but not released (in an edited version) until 1979.
This is all the 15 minute + Miles studio tracks I own. As far as i know these are all the tracks he recorded that passes a quarter of an hour. Most of my versions are from these expensive but wonderful sessions-boxes, so you might only know the edited versions of some of them. The sublime Mayisha was just six seconds too short to qualify, but there's so much greatness here it doesn't matter. Today my vote goes to the full version of this (only to be found on 1965-68: The Complete Columbia Studio Recordings CD 4): How about you? Edited by Saperlipopette! - October 04 2011 at 05:33 |

Good thing I remembered to include it. In the last second so to speak. Have you heard all the others? |

Off the top of my head, I would say "He Loved Him Madly", which I have loved madly, but plan to do a lot of Davis revisting (and listen to the posted track) before voting in this poll.

Not ALL of them, no, but a good chunk of them. All the stuff from Bitches' Brew, In a Silent Way, Jack Johnson, On the Corner, Big Fun, and probably half the tracks from Get Up With It, and some random others along the way. The fusion stuff is great, but my love for classical really propels Concierto to the top of the list. |

Every other day I would go for that myself. But most here deserves votes, though. The unknown tracks here can easily rival the more famous ones in quality. Have you got the version of Circle in the Round I wrote about? It might not be such a shocker if you already know the 26 minute version from that 1979 album of the same name, but I hadn't really heard that either. Its got a hypnotic bassline and spanish sounding guitar so it reminds me a little of Coltrane's Ole |

![]() I think I have most of those though. Unfortunately none of the titles is linked in my mind to the music, so my serious answer is hell, I don't know. Edited by Slartibartfast - October 03 2011 at 16:18 |

I don't have it -- love Ole, by the way. |

I had never heard circle in the round before, and after listening to 2 minutes, it is definitely my favorite, especially because it's from 1967.

I have a feeling neither of us will regret our impulse vote, been listening to it over and over. Its annoying that you can only get it physically on a 6 CD box collecting everything his famous second quintet ever recorded. Mostly stuff a fan already owns. But of course you can do like me, and buy a track as long as GG's Octopus for less than an dollar/euro anywhere on the internet. Its at disc four, which btw got 55 minutes full of rarities that released when recorded would have made another 67-68 Miles-masterpiece. Edited by Saperlipopette! - October 04 2011 at 06:15 |

I did however forget the nice but slightly forgettable Konda and a killer track called The Mask (Part two). Both from The Complete Jack Johnson Sessions. Don't own that box, but I've streamed half of it. Especially the latter is more memorable than... the somewhat irritating Hip Skip and to me that unedited On the Corner Version. Edit: Hip-Skip out, Mask in. |
