Julien, I can live as long as necessary without fixing batches 29 & 30Smile

Oh, only half of the road behind us. Many thanks to Jose for "too much monkey business". LOL

Yes, the 125 ones from yesterday were the "weird ones" with typos such as "bancamp.com" or "bandcamp .com"

So batch 28 was still relevant, but would have been fixed in the next few days anyway.

are separate listings, but actually the exact same album with different covers. The first is the Japanese/Korea release and the second is the Italian release, but both contain the same recording.
The odd thing is that the Japanese release has a 2.80 rating and the Italian release has a 2.17 rating (!)
Should these be merged as a single release since they are the same album with different covers?
Discogs has them listed as a single release.

Thanks, I've merged them and asked admins to delete another one (fortunately both are unreviewed).

So, with Julien now firmly on the case, and due to report back here within a few days, I am going to post my two last bunches of 50 for now. When these are fixed that will be somewhere between 1725 and 1750 albums altogether that have had the FLAC taken out of them thus far.

I've got another 50 album links still to be followed up on, but I'll leave checking them now until we've heard how Julien has got on with his own effort to dig these albums out and fix them. No doubt the occasional album will turn up from time to time that we've missed with these searches, but hopefully in a few days time the vast majority of them will have been fixed.

^ I've noticed the odd few here and there that haven't had Jose's name on them, but more than 99.5% of the ones discovered so far have been down to him. Let's just pray that nobody else on here who might have done this had Jose's incredible energy and determination!

I've just checked another 50 of my 'pending' list that are waiting to be posted here as Bunch 29, and all still need fixing, with another 100 or so that I haven't yet re-checked following Julien's surprise counter assault which took out 125 yesterday.

^ As far as I can tell, Jose was not the only one writing "FLAC download". LOL I'm not even sure it was his invention, probably he only copied the "template".

^ While awaiting the details of what your discovery involves, I checked through my last bunch of FLAC marauders (prepared last night) once more, and found that they still all need dealing with, so I'm gonna post them here anyway:

- E&O Team: Thanks, done.

That's about 1400 that I've posted here myself so far, plus Julien's 125 from yesterday, and the 100 that were done by Eugene when the problem first came to light last May. So, 1625 or thereabouts in total so far. My initial Google search string of "FLAC download - bandcamp.com" + progarchives, which suggested about 2960 results in the beginning, STILL suggests that there are about 2790 of these knocking around, yet if you change the search criteria by typing "FLAC download" + quinino + progarchives, the estimate drops considerably to about 513, and at least 200 of those have already been posted here (Google's caches are so very slow to be updated), so I reckon there can't be many more than 300 or so left now...unless someone else besides Jose has been writing "FLAC download" on these bandcamp album pages (God forbid!)

I await what you have discovered with great interest, but one way or another Progarchives.com will be rid of this legacy before too long! Smile

^ Lol! I await your news with bated breath!

I will therefore pause my own crusade to help eradicate this FLAC armada, and maybe even end it completely if you've discovered some kind of 'magic bullet' to nuke the whole fleet without too much effort! Smile

But... I announce you can take a break... I'm about to shake the world with some BIG news!

I also like this one and call it "Sometimes I Feel Like Screaming 2":

"Don't make me happy" - that's exactly what I would say to Jose before he started his flac revolution if he'd ask my opinion. Smile

Yes, I like that track too!

Here's Bunch 27 - I'm sure THAT will make you happy! LOL

^ Great!

This was another album we recently altered that used to have a similar line after Jose had modified the page: http://www.progarchives.com/album.asp?id=6683. The album is on bandcamp now, but the reference number of ESDDL 02 was just for the old download link - Jose had actually written "FLAC Proximity Records - ESDDL 02 (2012, www)" - and the line which now says "Digital album - bandcamp.com - ESDDL 02 (2012)" needs the reference number and year removing. The album which is now available on bandcamp is actually a remastered version, and wasn't available there until June 26, 2020 (see https://elegantsimplicity.bandcamp.com/album/nocturnal-implications-2020-remaster and https://www.elegantsimplicity.com/discography/albums/nocturnal-implications-1992/).

^ Thanks, done.

Now it reads: "Digital album (FLAC) Society of Sound - SoS Music 50 (2012, was available only in 2012 for Society of Sound subscribers)".
Who are you and who am I to say we know the reason why... (D. Gilmour)

Perfect!

This one I just came across might need modifying a bit too: http://www.progarchives.com/album.asp?id=42161. Jose says "FLAC Society of Sound - SoS Music 50 (2012, www)", which is true - the album WAS released exclusively in 2012 by Bowers & Wilkins (the parent company of Society of Sound, which was a monthly subscription service to listen to, discover and discuss music delivered in high-resolution quality). However, this service was withdrawn in March 2019, and all the download links expired forever at the end of that month. The album was only issued in the more widely available formats Jose mentions (CD/DVD & LP) in 2014: https://www.discogs.com/master/view/731008.

Perhaps a note needs adding to say that Society of Sound was a monthly subscription service offered by Bowers & Wilkins, which is no longer available, and that only those who'd enrolled in the service could access the FLAC files for download in 2012 anyway?

Here's the announcement that Society of Sound was ending, as posted on the B & W facebook page, 21st Feb 2019:

"It has been ten years since the formation of Bowers & Wilkins Society of Sound - a monthly destination to listen to, discover and discuss music delivered in beautiful high-resolution quality. We’re proud to have shared over 120 releases with subscribers who appreciate great sound.
From the beginning, John Bowers dreamed of bringing the experience and emotion of a live symphony to homes. To this day, we deliver products and services that bring people closer to the original musical performance. While our ambition will never change,  the methods and means to access and enjoy music have changed greatly over the last decade. It is with this in mind and after much consideration that we have decided to end the Society of Sound program, effective March 31, 2019. The February edition will arrive tomorrow, followed by a final edition in March. Please download all albums included in your subscription by March 31 as they will no longer be available past that date.
We are dedicated to continue creating new ways to deepen the joyful experience of music.
Sincerely,
Bowers & Wilkins"
