I prefer Supertramp to Rush, although I must say that I don't like Supertramp anymore as much as I used to do, while my appreciation for Rush has grown a bit through the years.

If the poll question would be "Which band is better?", I would answer "Rush". But if you ask me, who's the best, I must to answer "Neither".

Rush are awesome musicians, but no matter how good they are,
to me, it's always the emotional side that "has" to win,
so a distinctive vote for the Tramp !

Supertramp. Because I still listen to Supertramp occasionally. I can't say the same for Rush.
...a vigorous circular motion hitherto unknown to the people of this area, but destined
to take the place of the mud shark in your mythology...

Rush has grown in leaps and bounds musically and conceptually over the course of their career.   Supertramp, to me, were a good pop band with a few prog moments.  I also think they didn't really grow much other than changing their sound by necessity when Roger Hodgson left.

Both. In fact, both bands were among the first prog bands I've ever heard and included in my discography.

if i have to choose !  for personal reasons i have to choose Supertramp , only cause in 1970 , i had my first pair of shoes to walk in progressive rock , their self tittled album still my companion since 1970 , but Rush are something very special to me , if Supertramp have three excellent albums , Rush have three times more than that !

My vote goes to Rush

Because they still rock today after nearly 40 years.

I have two Rush: Farewell and Hemispheres, one Supertramp: Crime.  To strictly judge the bands by these albums I give it to Supertramp.
Released date are often when it it impacted you but recorded dates are when it really happened...

To the question 'which of these two are the best?', there is no difference between "Neither" and "Both" .

Easy choice. Rush. They're in a different league imo. Supertramp are fun in small doses, and they've made some great singles over the years, but I find their sound quite irritating after a while.
Ultimately bored by endless ecstasy!
