Supergroups usually create horrible clatterings. I think I might just add Fred Frith to Cos. :-)

I'm thinking make everyone play instruments they don't already. Now I have to think about a line up.

Reminds me of a Davy Jones joke on the Monkees. Reporter asks: Are the rumors true that the band members don't play their own instruments? Davy Jones: Yes, it is true. Sometimes I play Micky's, and some time Pete plays Mike's, and sometimes Mike plays mine, etc....

I'm sure it has, but since I've only been on this site for four days, I haven't got the chance to participate in any others, so I'll take a stab. These aren't necessarily my faves; I tried to pick a combo that would sound good together (um...maybe) Vocals: Peter Hammil Guitar: Robert Fripp Guitar: Toby Driver Bass: Jaco Pastorius Keyboards: Kevin Moore Drums: Bill Bruford

Wait...I thought Emerson made you laugh. Didn't you start a thread about how he had no restraint at all?

I liked the Momkees before I got into prog. I got Head on DVD which has a Frank Zappa cameo. I am contemplating a lineup where everyone who doesn't play percussion has to play percussion and match them up with drummers who don't play anything non percussion. I'm gonna take this lineup:
Drums-Neil Peart sorry Neil, we're putting you on accordion. Bass-Chris Squire, bass?? bass?? vocals, oh no no no. Drums I think Guitar-Robert Fripp - yeah you have to sing. Keyboards-Keith Emerson he could probably handle bass so make him sing. Vocals-Peter Gabriel yeah, no vocal or flute for you dude, ok bass. |

I was gonna do a list with my favorite musicians, but since almost all of them are a part of the canterbury scene it felt kinda pointless. I mean... everyone has played with everyone by now, eh?

I would pay so much to see this live. Though in all seriousness, Peart + Fripp from progistoomainstream's original post would be an interesting combination.

Vocals/Guitar- Roine Stolt
Guitar- Steve Howe Keyboards- Keith Emerson Bass- Geddy Lee Drums- Neil Peart I think that Steve and Roine in the same band would honestly be absolutely amazing, even if there are better singers.

A kindred spirit! Geddy Lee's vocals are phenomenal, imo. I know they get on some people's nerves but one has to admire the emotion he's able to put into his performances, as well as his ability to sing insanely high while still retaining tonal quality. I think his vocals are even better now than they've ever been; he can't sing quite as high but his singing is so full and meaty. Just listen to the version of "Freewill" on Snakes and Arrows live: he hits the note on the bridge in full chest voice; not falsetto, not from the throat: right from the gut. That's an F5. I know sopranos who think that's high in their range. Also, thumbs up for managing to put all three members of Rush in your fantasy band.

As much as i love Geddy Lee, and his singing - it's obvious his voice is in decline. But that's okay, they will always be flawless players.
