This is a different kind of Rush poll.

I wanted to offer up ten of my favorite early Rush "smokers".  By my definition these are their most ass-kicking SHORTer songs from the albums up through Hemispheres.  I'm not saying these are their best songs, but they are the short punchy ones, often packing speed and attitude.

Not a bad mix disc there for the morning drive wake-up disc.  EnjoyBig smile

Those two are my faves too, along with Circumstances, would be my top 3 and I think those 3 will top the poll.  I can't decide yet thoughEmbarrassed

Going with Circumstances, an often overlooked song, but still excellent.  Geddy's voice is phenomenal, and his bass licks are so good they should be illegal.  I especially enjoy the interlude, where the melody is traded between instruments so smoothly that you hardly notice where one instrument's melody ends, and the other takes over; a great musical depiction of the way in which we don't realize that the times and our lives are changing until we look back and realize that a new era has begun without us even noticing.

Circumstances in second, but Something for Nothing is a fantastic closer to the 'somewhat' good 2nd side of 2112.

Anthem. Loved it from the second I first heard it. A great opener from a very good album.

In very close second place is 'Something for nothing'
Ultimately bored by endless ecstasy!

Bastille Day.  Great riff!  I also like how it has several different sections which bring the rockin' bits into sharper relief.

A Passage To Bangkok for me, i always loved the imagery of that track plus it's fairly dark with an Eastern vibe. Alex offers up some killer guitar too.

I voted Bastille Day.  A Passage to Bangkok was up for strong consideration though.
