Topic: F# A# Infinity vs Lift Your Skinny Fists... Posted: October 20 2012 at 22:06 |
Two classic albums by Godspeed You! Black Emperor, both highly acclaimed and have similar ratings here on Prog Archives. F# A# Infinity is good, but I gotta go with Lift Your Skinny Fists.

Both of them have completely different feels to them and bring up different emotions, so it depends on my mood as to which one is "better." Ultimately though, LYSFLATH I think wins it for me because of its sheer diversity and contrast.

F#A# is great (love the narration on the first track), but LYSF is transcendent!

This exactly! I absolutely LOVE the opening monologue from Dead Flag Blues. But Skinny Fists just... really creates an amazing atmosphere. It's surreal!

I consider drone metal to be progressive...

I've heard only F#A#, and it's one of the best things I've ever heard (also my first post rock album).
So, no vote.

I love both dearly, those albums being absolute Post-Rock milestones and some of my favourite albums of all time. Giving it to Lift Your Skinny Fists though - beautiful, brooding, enigmatic and ethereal. The Post-Rock bible.

I think it came out last week. It'll probably be the next thing I buy! My vote goes to Skinny Fists. That thing is pretty incredible.

Sleep and Storm are two of the best things ever recorded. Can't vote against those tracks.
