Intruder's my favorite, but Lead a Normal Life is a close 2nd.

One day  "Lead a Normal Life" just hit me in the gut.  Such a sad little song of minimalist beauty.

The whole damn album hits me in strong places but Family Snapshot probably hits hardest.

^ Never been a fan of that one. I understand what it is about, but ... let's just say that some things are better left unsaid.

Well, it seems like the character wants to let the world know of himself, but to assassinate someone to do so, ... that's just a little too hard (or strong, whichever word fits) for me.

Right, and Gabriel, at the end of the song, concedes to that. The ending line 'come back mom and dad' is what ties the entire song together for me.

I'm pretty sure that the one being assassinated is his brother, come back Mom and Dad is the 'least favorite' child trying to win attention from the more favored brother.  In my mind, I never quite figured out if the song was to be taken literally or the passing fantasy of a child's imagination dealing with jealousy of an older sibling.

Family Snapshot wins my vote as well, though I had to think long and hard on 'Lead A Normal Life'.

All in all, this is a fantastic album.

Biko is my favourite. But it surprises me that Lead a Normal Life has no votes yet; it is one of the best songs on this album.

I think Family Snapshot the guy getting killed is some famous guy, and he's trying to get attention, like he has all his life with hi parents and others, plain and simple.

So if you believe 'the interwebs'

I remember hearing this song live during the "So" tour.
Peter said "This is a song about assasination". Just as the song started, various people around me were saying "listen to the words".
It is based on "An Assassins Diary", the notes and scribbles of Arthur Bremmer, who shot and crippled Governor George Wallace of Alabama in 1972. He also (earlier) tried to get Nixon.
