I'm really glad to see someone else investigating this band. Thumbs Up This album is the only one I don't have though. How did you like it? And do you know the band's first two albums?

Hope this helps a little! Now I have to ask you if you would recommend their other two albums? Does my description sound like the sort of sounds you hear on those albums?

The thing about this band is like many other bands they''ve changed their style (after the second album), and it was only logical evolving to instrumental prog/fusion, since they are all excellent musicians/players. They were once listed here under JR/F but now under symphonic. Their first album is shorter than some EPs I know and I would recommend only for fans of the second album, which I find to be an incredible album. Sung in french, the album is symphonic progressive with fiery guitars, clever bass lines, a lot of intricate moments perfectly executed and overall very good material. They were'nt aming for that warm 70's sound, it's more 80's, 90's clean sound, which I find surprisingly good. I've been meaning to write a review for this album for so long, but didn't have a chance, hope I'll get to it sometime soon.
I'm glad to see there's a utube video! check it out...

Sagi, it's a charming little album! Honestly, I bought it because
a) I read it was totally instrumental
B) The cover was cool, and I thought `Man, that would look awesome on vinyl. Classic progressive rock cover lol!

I frequently buy a stack of instrumental albums without having heard a note of them, as my best friend prefers prog albums without vocals, so I'm always on the lookout for albums to suggest to him.

Now to my ears it's kind of light-weight and undemanding, yet very charming, melodic and pleasant instrumental Neo-prog, really makes me smile. Sometimes that is just the album I could do with listening to, so I would definately recommend it. Sort of very nice background-listening prog still with talented playing and nice arrangements. Some of the album reminds me of the more upbeat and sunny sounds on the very first Jadis album `More Than Meets The Eye'?

Hope this helps a little! Now I have to ask you if you would recommend their other two albums? Does my description sound like the sort of sounds you hear on those albums?

Thumbs UpWhat's your favorite Strawbs among those?

Well so far I've dug Hero and Heroine the most, with Bursting Out a close second. Man, those guys could write good proggy folk pop! I can see where people would accuse them of ripping off Genesis (Cousins' vocal dialect being highly reminiscent of Peter Gabriel at certain points), but Strawbs started releasing music at the same time. In fact, their debut was released only a month or two later than From Genesis to Revelation.
So yeah, Hero and Heroine excites me the most with the tasteful folk pop rock prog blend. Over the next few days I'm also gonna take in more of their 1970s work.

Hmmmm...I never heard this accusation before and now that you've mentioned it I don't think he copied anything from him, he certainly has his own style. I really love his singing and the sound of his voice (even more than I enjoy Peter Gabriel's).
Anyway my favorite would be Ghost, I just love every bit of it! What a masterful sound too!!
Try From The Witchwood if you enjoy their heavy folky psychedelic side.
