Hmm, some interesting choices there, Sagi!
How did you find the Barracuda Triangle?! I really dig it, some cool stuff on that one! If you have the CD, check out Bodin's keyboard list that takes up almost an entire page of one of the pages of the digi-pack!
Morte Macabre - a damn Mellotron classic!
I really love that Pendragon `Believe' album. How great is Mr Barrett's acousatic playing on that one?! Man, some clunky lyrics here and there, though, I think he gets a little too ambitious from time to time! If you eventualy get their latest one, I'd love to know your thoughts on it. | Oh yes Barracuda Triangle is freakin' superb man! Since I'm fed up with TFK albums I would have never tried this album if it wasn't on our team's chart, I'm so glad it did come my way though, I'm diggin' the hell out of it! And it sounds nothing like TFK too. Man how good is the playing on this album ha?! I'm not sure which of the three musicians I'm enjoying the most, which is already a good sign. Funny but just today I wrote the short bio for the band so they're gonna be included very soon now. And yes I've noticed Bodin's diversity of sounds but never seen the CD booklet since my copy is still a download version, But I will most definitely get the album sometime soon. Anyway I'm glad you like that one too And Believe is just another fine album by such a great band. My favorite moment is... "And now everybody to the dance floor..."

Funny you mention Dead Can Dance, David. They are mentioned on the lyrics of the new SW album I agree with that description of Hand. Cannot. Erase.

Yeah I noticed that Sam. I think Steven is a big fan of the more obscure, yet highly influential, artists from the 80s. I know he listened to a lot of post-punk and new wave before he made his first solo album, which I still regard as his best.

wow, such a big list, I never find more time for music Nice choices (I don't know 4 from the list but anyway) is the new Arena out? |
That was actually about two days worth, so I was cheating!
Yes, the new Arena is sort of out! I ordered the CD directly from the band, it was released on the 23rd of March and arrived four days later, pretty fair effort considering I live in Australia! I think it mentioned on their page that the general release is in about three weeks from now, but you could get in early by ordering it straight from the band. It's a great album! It's still very much in the hard-rock vein as their previous disc, but there's a lot more symphonic elements added back in, and the singer shows a lot more variety this time around. I think most Arena fans will love it | Yay!! Alright Michael! Sounds like Arena's latest is a positive spin for you? I await for one of your star-studded reviews. ;) Today and yesterday Marillion--The Strange Engine Autechre-- Incunabula Arena--Songs from the lions cage (absolutely cranked through lovely 2ch analog audio format. Neighbors weren't home.) Depeche mode--Violator (5.1 mix is absolute beauties. ;) Arena--Immortal? Dream Theater--Falling into infinity ( yup. That Peruvian skies is a beaut.) Fields of the Nephilim-- Earth Inferno ( officially now my favourite live album of all time. ) How to destroy angels--Welcome Oblivion Atticus Ross and Trent Reznor--The Girl With the dragon tattoo. (All 3 discs)

^ A recommendation from you and David is more than enough reason for me to give them a listen Today: Mystery - One Among The Living Devin Townsend - Z2 (Disc 2) Sankt Otten - Messias Maschine (Received the double LP today, very good PE with many Kraut/PE special guests. Do you know this one David?)

Aww Sam you sweet Portuguese man! Does that mean we can throw any sort of nonsense your way then? A fun way to discover Dead Can Dance is the other way around. Start with their newest and work your way backwards. Almost forgot, sorry man but yes I do have that Sankt Otten album lying around somewhere Sam. It's the only of his that I own. It's a pretty good modern electronic album with a few old school berliner tricks up it's sleeve if I recall...then again it's been a while since I last span it.

Not any sort of nonsense, but the description you wrote about "Into the Labyrinth" was pretty interesting Yep, that's the one I also have their new one that was released two months ago, it's a bit darker than Messias, but it doesn't seem as good. I will have to spin those two more though

Sagi, I'm a staunch worshipper at the `Temple of Reingold'! Seriously, anything that guy plays on I consider an instant sound-unseen purchase. He is just a dynamic, thoughtful and intelligent musician who instantly lifts any project he's involved with. Oh, yeah, and that Bodin kid shows potential.... Hmmm, you know, I thought parts of the second half of the album started to show a bit more Flower Kings elements, especially the booming church organ. But yeah, not too much to compare it to Stolt's band. Heh, I hope Bodin and Reingold didn't take the demos of what ended up on the album to Stolt, only for him to not think it would be appropriate for the Kings! Ha - his loss, if so! And is it just me, or do I detect even a bit of `Elephant 9' in that album?! Todays choices: Alpha Wave Movement Beyond Silence Jazzdefector Themes from Imaginary Films About Love Jack Hertz Void Where Prohibited (eerie electronic drones with glitchy nightmarish industrial-like bursts!) Projektions - #28 (a lovely dark ambient release) Rustichelli & Bordini Opera Prima Sezione Frenante Metafora di un Viaggio (sounds like a true lost vintage Italian album) Riverside Shrine of the New Generation Slaves Lunatic Soul Living on a Flashlight Beam

You know what? I was wrong. The one I have is called Gottes Synthesizer (God's Synth). I just looked the other double LP up and saw that Jaki Liebezeit is playing drums on the first cut! I need to get this.

Great review! My subconscious had a reason for asking you about the album: someone recommended it to me last year and I forgot about it, but I instantly recognized the cover

Sam, I was initially quite uninterested in it (partly why it took me so long to get the damn add of it done in the first place! ), but Todd seemed to hint that it was a bit more interesting than I gave it credit for, now I think it's really rather special! Do investigate it at some point....you know, add it to the pile of albums to investigate that never stops growing!

Glass Hammer Chronometree, Cor Cordium Metallica Load Dream Theater Falling into Infinity Rush Hemispheres Gentle Giant Acquiring the Taste Arena The Unquiet Sky Alpha Wave Movement Myriad Stars | I wouldn't go far calling it rap you know but anyway it's all good and fits in quite nicely. Great album btw with some of the band's heaviest moments! How did you like Hemispheres and Acquiring The Taste??
