Lynyrd Skynyrd - Greatest Hits
Tangerine Dream - Zeit

Quite a range there Smile first full listen to "Zeit" and I love it! As ambient/electronic music goes, this is possibly my favourite album! (Not at the moment but I'm sure I'll find more from it). Prefer it to the main 2 (Phaedra and Rubycon).

Plus:

ELP - Brain Salad Surgery
King Crimson - In The Wake Of Poseidon

Zeit really is something else, isn't it?  I can't think of another album like it that doesn't bore me to tears.

Ha, I forgot to post this yesterday, wish I had with the talk to Tangerine Dream going on!

Jadis - Fanatic
Jadis - More Than Meets The Eye
Tangerine Dream - Cyclone
Can - Future Days

What's the general opinion on TD's `Cyclone'? I'm not a big fan of the vocals, but that's not the problem with it for me. I totally get that `Cyclone' almost takes them closer to Symphonic Prog, but to me the biggest crime is that the side long track `Madrigal Meridian' is lazy, uninspired and impossibly by-the-numbers. A bit of a shame really.

But I will be listening to it more again tonight on nightshift!

For me my friend it's ' COLD BENT SIDEWALK' is where it's at. Best track on the album. I actually like the emotional vocal delivery and subject matter. I'd say this is one of the best TD tracks with vocals...that isn't saying very much though. Lol.

Yesterday and Today.....

King Crimson--The Great Deceiver (disc 4) Massey Hall show in 1974 is just amazing.
YES---Fragile ( great album that really showcases each band members elite skill levels.)
Sylvan--Posthumous Silence ( incredible Emotional vocals. Such power and feeling. Great album.)
Museo Rosenbach--Zarathustra live in Studio. (What an incredible album. Very smooth and interesting transitions in the music. Quality Prog and one of RPI's best I think.)
Anubis---Tower Of Silence. (This album still has its hooks in me. The Holy Innocent is one of the best modern day Neo Prog songs I've heard in a long while. Great saxophone too!)
Anderson Bruford Wakeman Howe---A.B.W.H ( people have been very hard on this album, but I think it is quite pleasant. At the time you could categorize it as a modern day Close To The Edge album. It's very good and far better than 90125, Tormato, Big Generator and the failed Union experiment.)
Gimmie my headphones now!!! 🎧🤣

Oh, Nick, I sometimes take it off the shelf, look at it and think `Ehh, f**k it....' and put it back! I don't rate it very highly, but I remember I used to really like that (I think it was called) `Fists of Fire' or something? The second track anyway.

But it's that calypso track later on, `Teakbois' that absolutely slaughters me. Plus, those `rock gives courage' sort of lyrics always turn my stomach, no matter what the artist, makes me think of nothing but lack of any inspiration at all!

Sadly, I also find all those other albums you mention far superior! Sorry my friend!

For the 80's and what typically was the approach sound wise with the use of technology, especially with Keys I think songs like Brother Of Mine, Order Of The Universe and Quartet (I'm alive section) are absolute winners and other than Drama I think it's YES's best 80's oriented music. But I am sorry that album didn't gel with you. I guess I can use ABWH and Comedy Of Errors to kill you with annoyance these days.

Bwahah, you've discovered my Kryptonite, my friend!

Have you heard `Talk' or the `Keys To Ascension' albums by Yes?

Or.....`Open Your Eyes' - Now that's a generally despised Yes album that I can sometimes be a little forgiving of. I'd love to know your opinions on that one!

Ah Yes. Keys to Acension. The 4 disc set that is a series of live concerts and shows some promising improvisational skills in 1995-1996. I've had this one in my amazon cart for a while, so I cannot give my full opinion on it just yet.
I heard some of the first disc and the sound quality is really quite good. Also, I really like Alan White on Drums but I prefer Bruford. I will be buying this set soon though. I'll let you know when I get my hands on it and really sit with it.
:)
