Where is Prince???

Nick! I was just thinking of you the other day, hoping all is well with you! Don't you worry, my friend, the Purple Phreak is never far from my stereo!

Ha, I very much dig your note at the end of your posts! `Kaleidoscope' may be well played by a bunch of musicians I adore, but Lord it was a bit of an uninspired dud, a band ticking the boxes and offering just more of the same `old-man' prog! I disliked that album almost as much as that second Edison's Children album...or was that last year?

For today's choices:

Le Orme - Storia O Leggenda
Perigeo - Abbiamo Tutti un Blues da Piangere
Biglietto Per L'Inferno - s/t (Sagi, I still haven't heard that Folk/acoustic album you recommended from them!)
Progenesi - Ulisse: L'Alfiere Nero
PTF - Percept From
Duncan Mackay - Chimera
Dzyan - Electric Silence

Master purple Mike! All is well. I've been a bit distant lately on PA, but I'm still progging out everyday like its my last day on earth. ;)
You are right. Edison was last year and it didn't grab me either. On the other hand, Kaleidoscope is far from terrible, but to best out IQ? No chance. I'd take melody over musical masturbation anyday.
Hope you are well. Also, maybe you know this already Italia Progressivomente signed a deal with Sony, so many classic RPI titles are now available at LASERSEDGE.COM at budget prices that wer out of print for many years now
Hope you can find something you like. :)

Yesterday and today.

Threshold--March In Progress (can't get enough of this one.)
Goblin--Zombi
Lacuna Coil--Shallow Life
Porcupine Tree--Fear Of A Blank Planet
The Orb--Metallic Spheres feat. David Gilmour.
Mostly Autumn--Ghost Light Orchestra
Gears Of War--Official video game score soundtrack.
Gimmie my headphones now!!! 🎧🤣

Delusion Squared - The Final Delusion (nice album Michael, this one is definitely more influenced by PT than the previous ones. I think it's too lengthy though: I had to pause it and continue later Confused)
Yes - The Yes Album

Totally understand, Sam! As much as I really like that album, I often don't get all the way through it either! Round about the 45-50 minute mark I'll sometimes switch albums!

Halfway through the night at work, so far been through:

Focus - X
Jane - Fire, Water, Earth and Air
Jane - Live At Home

I bought D.F.A's `Works in Progress Live' on the way into work as well, so will give that a spin on the way home. Same with Caravan's latest, haven't played it again since I bought it.

Focus, a fine band, my friend!

Well, best to start off with `Moving Waves'! It was one of the first prog albums I ever owned, and I still adore the album today. You'll probably know their hit `Hocus Pocus' on it, so that instantly helps! It's got a great selection of smaller pieces and then a 20+ minute epic at the end! Mostly all instrumental as well.

Other than that, head for `Hamburger Concerto' after that, the double album `Focus 3' is a lot jammier/improv heavy and still amazing. `Mother Focus', which is the one many people drop off at is very tasteful and pleasant, but not so complex. The debut is not bad either, just has vocal based pieces.

Hope this helps a little!

For sure! Their albums have many little silly moments like some of that song has!

Did you see the recent `Robocop' movie remake? There's a big action scene which uses `Hocus Pocus' in the background, nearly lost my mind in the cinema!

I never saw the movie but I saw somewhere it was on the soundtrack. I was surprised the other day to listen to ELP's Karn 9 (1st Impression - Part 2) on an Heroes episode that I didn't even heard what the characters where saying LOL

Nick, believe it or not, TDream are coming to Melbourne in a few weeks, playing at the same venue with the massive pipe organ where Goblin played last time!

I'll be seeing Yes and TDream in the same week, actually taking that week off work to fully appreciate it!

Mr Freak, is that the one with the female operatic vocals on it?! I'm pretty sure I've got this on LP, but I haven't spun it in years...Should I go and dig it off the shelf again?

Awesome! That seems like a nice vacation Big smile

I'm finishing 'Moving Waves': I love it Big smile
I never thought there would be such gentle symphonic bliss after 'Hocus Pocus'. The guitar and bass work is amazing and the flute choirs are beautiful Cry

Great, Sam! Yes, I still have a lot of fond memories of `Moving Waves', and I was certain you'd easily enjoy it!

I think you'll greatly like `Hamburger Concerto' and `Focus 3' as well when you eventually get to them!

I am in awe and in full admiration of you. ;)
My god, you know how to seriously Prog on!!
Do enjoy it my friend. You really deserve this.

Today (through headphone listening strictly)

Marillion-- The Strange Engine (I cannot believe how incredible the audio recording quality is on this album. I teared up like a big proggy baby when listening to Memory Of Water. The sheer warmth and clean background while Hogarth sings gave me goosebumps. Terrific album)
Threshold--Dead Reckoning ( the last of the MAC saga as he shortly passed away after this album. :(
Mostly Autumn--Ghost Moon Orchestra ( wow. Highly recommend this one)
Fields Of The Nephilim--Mourning Sun ( if you have high quality audio sources (amps/DACS/headphones) you are going to really fully appreciate how this album is lavishly produced. Can't believe how much more of the music I can hear these days.
Dream Theater-- S/T ( had to revisit this one due do certain audio upgrades and I still feel its a winner.)
Alan Parsons Project--Pyramid ( ok. This is the mother of all recordings. Mr. Alan seriously knows how to engineer an album. The airy large soundstage he creates is awesome. Great mixing. ;)
Gimmie my headphones now!!! 🎧🤣
