^^ ah Sam!! What a great post. And yes....where is my metallic expression emoticon.
As for Wish you were here. Funny enough, I was a late bloomer getting into Floyd and when I listened to WYWH about 15 years ago for the first time, I wasn't all that blown away. I was really into my rush and Metallica and that kind of clouded things for me; however, the Nick today just absolutely worships ze Floyd. ;)
"Welcome to the machine is a very special track', especially recording wise. It is a Bi-nural headphone recording meaning its a track that was Tailored for a 3d stereophonic presentation mainly through headphones.
If you ever become more interested in bi-nural recordings check out cheskyrecords.com
I recently ordered an album from 'Powerhouse.' They are a jazz outfit that does a mean job covering a lot of miles Davis's work. Anyway, "In an ambient way' by powerhouse could be an album for you! They've ultilzed binaural imaging. So awesome. :)

Today.

GYBE-- lift your skinny fists...
Disturbed-- immortalized
Pink Floyd-- meddle
Arena-- the cry
Gimmie my headphones now!!! 🎧🤣

Thanks! In my case I discovered them at the right moment: I was getting bored of Punk and Metal, I wanted something more complex and with variety within the Rock genre, Floyd was what I was looking for Smile I discovered the term Prog and the classics later though Tongue
It's very inventive and impressive, considering it was recorded in the 70's. The elevator part at the end is quite fun, especially when the doors open and the volume of the laughs volume increases gradually. Very detailed Thumbs Up
That sounds interesting, I wonder if there are Progressive Electronic albums with that Big smile I'll give that album a listen later Wink

Yesterday:
The Riverboat Gamblers - Underneath the Owl
Anekdoten - Gravity (More like the lack of gravity, I felt like I was floating Approve)
Push Kings - s/t, Far Places
Tohpati Bertiga - Riot
Iron Kim Style - s/t

Today so far:
Museo Rosenbach - Zarathustra (It's awesome Big smile Thanks for reminding me of it Michael Smile)

Sam, `Zarathustra's an album I must have heard close to a hundred times or more by this point, and it STILL floors me just as much now as when I first heard it. That first side especially is pretty much musical perfection for me!

I hope my recommendation of Iron Kim Style has not resulted in disappointment!

Funny, I used to think Anekdoten's `Gravity' was the least interesting of their studio albums, now I find it just as good as the rest! Probably their most varied albums, I kind of feel there were more indie-rock styles emerging on that one.

Tonights choices:

F.E.M Prog Band – Sulla Bolla di Sapone
Astrolabio – L’Isolamento dei Numero Pari
Druckfarben – Second Sound
Glass Hammer – The Breaking of the World
Leap Day – From the Days of Deucalion
Klaus Schulze – Picture Music
Thought Guild – Third Voyage
Thought Guild – Electric Curios
Alpha Wave Movement – Celestial Chronicles

I think it was the third time I listened to it, but I only got into it this time Big smile I knew about this album long before I knew Prog, at least the cover, I remember it was on a music magazine, a section about ugly covers LOL I'll have to find it Tongue

Not at all Big smile

They never disappointed me so far Smile

I was reading your post about gardening and I thought of the track "Ritorno al Giardino" from that album Tongue I hope all that electronic music is making you feel better Thumbs Up

Michael. I love the Zarathustra album as well; in fact I've been getting back into RPI in general lately.
I gave Banco mutuo S/T debut another spin lately and it has some of the best piano I've ever heard. It's so beautiful and headphoning that experience almost made me tear up. It's awesome. So full of expression.

And SAM. I agree. Pink Floyd has to creep into our sonic spheres at the right time.
I guess Ze Floyd are kind out a mature listen. ;)

Anyhow. My sonic business the last 2 days.

Banco mutuo del soccoroso---s/t
Unreal city-/ la crudelta di Aprile. (I gotta get their 2nd effort!)
Arena-- the unquiet sky.
Disturbed-- immortalized (they certainly are!)
Arena--welcome to the stage. ( wrightson sounds good live. ;)
Powerhouse-- in an ambient way. ( dear god! 3d goodness. ;)

Gimmie my headphones now!!! 🎧🤣

Yeah, my friend, I actually had that first Banco album playing at work the other day, and a friend looked baffled and said `This sounds like Pavarotti in a really weird rock band'!

`The Grand Experiment' is a terrific Morse album, Nick! There's a couple of bits that have some really sickening harmonies poured on a little sweet and thick, but there's not a bad track on it. Hmmm, I don't know if I'd say it's better than `Sola Scriptura' - and I can see how, with its more metal moments and heavier guitars, you really respond to that one! - but it's certainly not a lesser album in any way. A reliable purchase if you like the way Morse does his thing, and I'm sure Portnoy only sweetens the deal for you!

You MUST get it, it's even better than the first Big smile

Yesterday:
Astrolabio - L'Isolamento Dei Numero Pari (Great one Michael, I kept forgetting about this one Tongue It seems to have influences from every classic Prog band, including some occasional obvious references Smile The Nirvana cover was a bit weird LOL)
Dialeto - The Last Tribe

This morning:
Powerhouse - In An Ambient Way (I listened with ear phones at work, so I didn't hear any 3D Embarrassed)
Lou Donaldson - Blues Walk

Sam, did you get that Dialeto album as part of the Moonjune sale? I don't recall if that was one I recommended to you! I've got it myself, pretty damn decent, but I don't listen to it too much. It's been a little forgotten on my shelf!

Ishq – Bloom
Alpha Wave Movement – Celestial Chronicles
Autumn of Communion – 6 (Could this be one of the ambient/electronic releases of the year?!)
Seldon - Tutto A Memoria

Neal Morse – Sola Scriptura (there ya go, Nick! You know, `The Door’ is one of my absolute favourite Morse pieces, how amazing is that final section that begins with the piano and Mellotron bit then leads to the massive guitar solo?!

I found one of those King Crimson Club recordings at my local record store. It's with the Islands lineup performing at the Marquee on August 10, 1971. There's some good versions of "Pictures Of A City", "Cadence And Cascade", "Cirkus", "21st Century Schizoid Man", and embryonic versions of songs from the Islands album itself. Oh, and a very long jam. The first half was good, containing elements of what would become "Larks Tongues In Aspic, Pt. 1" and "Lament", and a electronic drum solo that might have inspired ELP to use one in "Toccata". Very good sound too.

Yes and yes. It's really good, it reminds me of KC's Red, it has great guitar and bass work, but the drums are not as good as the rest in terms of recording quality and the drummer is a bit sloppy Ermm Not every drummer is like Bruford right? Tongue

Yesterday:
Calibro 35 - Dalla Bovisa a Brooklyn
Mata Ratos - Novos Hinos Para a Mocidade Portuguesa
Pintarolas - Vai João
Ash - Twilight of the Innocents
Moraine - Metamorphic Rock

Ah, but the question now is - what did you think of Moraine's `Metamprphic Rock'?!

That one took me ages to come around to, it's got this slab-like heaviness to it, quite a cold and chilly album. But a friend and I really started to get into it, we both agreed to keep it in our cars for several months when we first got it! I used to play it all the time - much to the annoyance of many in my office at work too who HATED it!

Hmmm, next time anyone is annoying me, I might need to start bringing it out again!

The album that is, not `bringing out' the OTHER thing....pretty sure that's an instant dismissal!

It didn't seem that great at first listen, but I'm sure it will get better with more spins... I hope it won't take me ages to appreciate it Tongue
