Yeah, you got a point. Well, as I mentioned in the other thread, I think it's good, borderline very good, but I think there's a bit too many straightforward rock moments on it where not much interesting happens, and where it therefore loses my attention. But it's an interesting example of prog from behind the Iron Curtain, and what they had to do to play their rock music there. I especially find the humming, or should I say non-pronunciation of consonants, on "Planeta H. Bosche II" a creative way of getting around the censorship it was put under for containing the word "heroin". In that respect it's also interesting to hear the song performed live, on the live "Dialog s vesmírem" album, where they sing the actual lyrics (not that I understand any of it LOL). Surprised they had the nerve to do that, and were allowed to. They performed the full album live before the studio album was released (recorded?), so (and I'm only speculating here, but) those performances were perhaps the reason they had to censor it on the studio album.
It wasn't a very attentive listen so it didn't seemed straightforward to me. I guess I'll have to listen to the live performance then Wink
Perhaps not straightforward instrumentally, but I feel the lyrics follows the verse-chorus-verse route a bit too much. Still, a good to very good album, I feel. And the live album is at least worth checking out, although it doesn't veer too much away from the studio version.

Hey my friend. You know it sounds like you may be second guessing yourself quite a bit in the audio end of things. I really urge you to try out some of the world class flagship headphones out there just to hear and feel what's out there with no buying attachment necessary!
Don't fear what your music should sound like to your tastes compared to what you own. Fearing disappointment will deprave you of experiencing superior audio quality right down to the final detail. I can tell ya with all my heart that bringing a few of your albums that are dear to you and running them through a very high-end headphone rig will have you in all smiles and possibly tears! The results are shocking but people like yourself who absolutely adore music should not allow an experience like that to go by.
The best part is it's all free!    . Also, if you end up loving the higher end headphone models out there that are made by the likes of AUDEZE, Sennheiser, STAX or HIFIMAN it's a very reasonable goal to shoot for.
It's expensive I know, but that's just the way it goes to experience high end audio. You gotta plan and budget to give your ears the best they deserve.
Anyhow, go give yourself a day or an afternoon with some unbelievable gear. You deserve it and so do your ears!
Imagine your rediscoveries. . I also very much understand or being content with your current set up or headphones, and you are pretty focused in buying or budgeting a lot of your extra cash on music, but don't let that stop you from exploring planet hi-fi audio. Remember again, it's free to try! I hope you do it!
Any major retailer near you that carry 1000$+ headphones will let you audition their demo models as long as you like. I just recommend bringing in your own music. ;)
You might be right, Nick, and your encouraging words have made me curious to know where my gear stands in the quality department. I might do this sometime, sounds like an exciting experience. And I think "A Passion Play" might be up to the task. Smile

Locanda Delle Fate--- Forsi le lucciole non Si amano più ( my goodness. This album sounds as dreamy and beautiful as how the album cover looks! I love this album. RPI gold!
It's a wonderful album indeed. I instantly fell in love with the the first two tracks, and especially the title track, when I first heard it, but after finally getting a hold of a CD copy of the album some months back, I realized how good the whole album actually is.

Speaking of Locandas, have you heard Quella Vecchia Locanda? They were my first RPI love. Especially their s/t debut holds a very special place in my heart, as it was the first RPI album I heard. Their second album is not as good, IMO, but many believe it to be the better of the two. Worth checking out both if you haven't. Been a while since I spun them both, and the LdF one too. I'll try to get around to balm my ears with them again over the weekend. Always a soothing listen, all three. Approve

Very cool that you gave Locanda delle fate another spin shortly after I spun it. Yeah, I'm absolutely in love with this album mainly because I adore Prog and have a heart beat.
Hard to pick a favourite On forse le Lucciole non si amano più, but I feel the opening instrumental (A volte in istante DI quiete) is indeed top drawer, while the BANCO inspired track VENDESI SAGGEZZA is a masterpiece.
Great that you got the cd version. I have it as well and I even really liked the bonus track, New York. Very accessible and catchy. A unique track cause their isn't one like it on the entire album.
Meanwhile, quella vecchia is a band I've not heard! Your first RPI love? That's amazing. I'm sure their first album is an album I will get a lot out of. I shall put it into the amazon cart if you will. :)
Lastly, how did ya love the new maiden album? I'm still pretty happy with it.
Speed of light is the only track where I'm on the fence for...just not crazy about it, but the rest I believe I am!

Gimmie my headphones now!!! 🎧🤣

I heard it once a while ago but I remember I really liked it. I should start buying their albums eventually, their LP's are splendid Big smile
The new one is really great: lots of cool synths, groovy bass and powerful drums. Great atmosphere too Cool

Yesterday:
The Silverman - State of Union
Riverside - Love, Fear And The DeLorean
Kari Ikonen Trio - Beauteous Tales and Offbeat Stories
Iron Maiden - Killers
Pink Floyd - Atom Heart Mother (Still my favourite Floyd album and even more on my new turntable: I heard so many details I missed and everything much clearly. It was good to easily listen to Waters' bass without distortions and the keyboards sound much warmer and close. I think there are people talking on "Alan's Psychedelic Breakfast" besides Alan and some music playing near the end, but it's not loud enough to understand. It was the first listen on a manual turntable, so I finally heard the infinite dripping in the end Tongue)
