^^ A CD is a better analogy, since you can't have more than a Pokemon on the same Pokeball Tongue

Back to music... LOL Tonight:
Ysma - Fourth Wall (Great album, it's still one of my favourites of 2014)

I think it's interesting there's more conversations about the new DT album on PA's Facebook page than on the forum. Most DT fans were probably spooked by Micky, back in the day LOL

Oh, I saw that too....made me shudder. I even noticed TheT who gave the album a 2 star rating (and making some hugely valid points about it in his review) copping some flak in the (dreaded!) `social comments' field from disagreeing readers.

Yeah, that was a pretty good review by 'The T.' I totally get and understand where he is coming from, but whole-heartedly disagree with about 90% of his opinions. There will never be any middle-ground with a band like Dream Theater. Love them or hate them is what it is and how it always has been with them. I mean f**k! A ton of people felt that for the last to albums DT were aging, playing it safe (dumbing Down their sound) and appealing to a more commercial sound approach. Now you got the other massive lot, feeling like Patrick Bateman in American psycho about how he felt about Genesis's early work before duke whereby words like too technical, grandiose, pretentious, confusing and over done are words to now begrudge The Astonishing.
Well, which is it!!! Like what the hell to people want?? DT can never win a majority. I have also come to understand that their are far more ignorant people out there rather than serious listeners; however, the serious listeners and music appreciators out there like both you (Michael), Sam and the T who don't like the album I can very much understand that cause you guys explain yourselves very well. ;)
More than anything, I know this is not an easy album to digest, especially for the average listener. Love them or hate them, and that is how it will always be.
You know, the funny thing is so many people and a ton here on PA, were complaining that 'why can't DT be more like Haken??'
Well, now they proved they can far beyond Haken technically and compositionally.
I just don't get it.
Gimmie my headphones now!!! 🎧🤣

You know, I'm not even that into it, like I'd say it's only a 7/10 album, but for some reason I kept wanting to come back to it. Probably helps that it's so short.

Nick, I didn't say I didn't like the album. I still have some DT albums from the box set I never listened to, so there's no point in listening to the new one, I think.

I hope it was a great concert Sagi Thumbs Up

Last night's choices:

Alpha Wave Movement – Celestial Chronicles
Alpha Wave Movement - Horizons

AWM is a recent discovery of mine, and a very good one too.  I noticed your reviews of several of their albums and I have to say a hearty Clap to you good sir, very impressive reviews.  In particular I'm loving Harmonic Currents, what a wonderful, blissful album.  Echoes of Rainbow Dome Music and Waiting For Cousteau, you don't get much better influences than that.  Celestial Chronicles is excellent too, though I've not heard Horizons yet.

Hey Roj, thanks! I was really pleasantly surprised and very happy to notice you listed `Harmonic Currents' in your Collabs Top 20 of 2015. Honestly, I jumped back and forth between the three AWM discs of 2015 (along with `System A' and `Earthen') not knowing which to include in my personal top 20, but they are all absolutely superb!

`Horizons' is good, but not one of my favourites. It's a lot more obvious with constant percussive elements and upfront soloing. I've yet to hear even a slightly average release from Gregory Kyryluk/Alpha Wave Movement, but I have plenty more favourites ahead of that one! `Celestial Chronicles' is wonderful! I think that's one from AWM that I listen to the most, it's a terrific background listen especially. Just a lovely album overall!

Definitely look into `Architexture of Silence' if you haven't done so yet as well!

I certainly will do, thanks for the recommendation Smile.

Next one of AWM's I have ready to listen to is The Edge of Infinity, do you know that one?
