The IQ website has now been updated to include a music player widget loaded with 2-minute samples of all five songs from the main album. Just click on http://iq-hq.co.uk/index.php/studio-recordings/the-road-of-bones-2014, hit the play button, sit back and enjoy. Big smile

All songs sounding very good indeed to these ears...This should be quite an album when it lands in just over a fortnight's time...And anyone who was concerned about the lack of Martin Orford's input to this offering need have no concerns whatsoever about the quality of the keyboard parts on it. Approve

Seems to have some keyboard sounds like those used by Martin Orford on Nomzamo (No Love Lost).

I like it and at times it almost drifts into prog metal. Nicholls voice still holding up is the most important thing.

Yup. I cheated...caved...gave in or whatever you wanna call it cause I just couldn't help myself. I have been so anxious to hear IQ's latest tackling, so I cranked the title track and just loved it. I find no fault in the musical direction at all. It is both emotional, deep, provacative and 5:50min in the track gets heavenly Heavy.
Love the keyboards, Esau's steady and punchy Bass and Nicholl's vocals were the big standouts for me with in the title track. This song is an absolute winner and very much sets the tone for my most anticipated release of 2014.
All smiles here.

Ok. That's about it for me.
The ending 1:30 is the best part, and gets me moving. Though the heavy part in general is kind of lame. The quiet part has some nice lyrics, but the drums still sound overproduced. I wish the mallet percussion was real.
I'll agree with Stone and say that the keyboard sounds were nice.

If anyone is so inclined to listen, this is the full title track from The Road of Bones. And honestly I love everything about it. The keyboard sounds used, the drum sound, the mixing, the composition. It's very tasteful. I'll put this, "Frequency," "Closer," and "Guiding Light" as the best songs IQ's done post- Subterranea.

Wait a minute!
Aren't you supposed to wait till the release date to vote?
I mean it has not even been released yet; how the hell can you rate it?

Yep. You really do wonder (and get rather pissed off) at the mentality of people who do this, don't you?

Sacred Sound is one of the tracks that got me into prog, so at the time I loved the album, but listening to it now, the rest of the album in particular doesn't quite stack up to their other work. Anyway, looking forward to the new album!

Now THAT would be wonderful! ClapSorry, but other than HOS, I don't care for Dark Matter. It is probably my least favorite IQ album.

Dark Matter has some great material on it, and I've always adored 'The Sacred Sound.' I feel it is a top notch track, but like you I feel 'Dark Matter' is waaaay down on the totem poll for IQ's grand discography. Come to think of it, Dark Matter would be my least favourite IQ album with Peter Nicholls at the helm. Well, above all, I still would love that seventh house/Frequency hybrid!!! :)

It seems almost mandatory for one to pick up the 2 disc edition. Man, that 2nd disc has nearly 50mins of music!!
Love some of the track names as well. KNUCKLEHEAD strikes me well! :)
I am so looking forward to this. Very very excited.
