If you like Beardfish, Discipline, Änglagård and Phideaux (wich are my favourites too), you should try some of the great new italian bands, try to listen to som of these albums and see what you think:
Areknames - Love hate roundtrip (dark Vdgg style, one of my favourites of all time) La maschera di cera - Luxade VIII strada - La leggenda della grande porta (great guitar / piano driven prog) Il tempio delle clessidre - il tempio delle clessidre (this is how prog should sound like) Gran turismo veloce - Di carne, di anima (modern guitardriven prog) La coscienza di zeno - Sensitivita (classic new RPI) Others also recommended: Karmakanic (first is my favourite) The gourishankar - 2nd hands Kaipa - In the wake of evolutions (better than Flowerkings IMHO) Good luck! |

Definitely the new "The Custodian" album. Just discovered them. Probably the best prog rock band to come out of London in a long time! Im new by the way, hi! :D

Is the comment about the vocals just referring to the one album? My favourote GH album is The Inconsolable Secret which has mainly female vocals. The earlier albums have a mix of male and female while later albums (excluding Three Cheers) have the 'Jon Anderson clone' vocals (initially Carl Groves then Jon Davison) although I like Davison's singing on Cor Cordium very much.

He doesn't like metal.
Another suggestion would be Samuel Jackson Five's recent self titled album.

oh yeah, thanks for reminding me. I'm really digging their newest album, and i normally hate neo prog. this song in particular is awesome: pink floyd meets metal.

Glass Hammer. Pretty much anything they have done since Chronomotree is worth checking out. Perhaps avoid Three Cheers For The Broken Hearted as that was a divergence which didn't go well with the fans. 'If' is probably their most highly rated album and the most recent Perilous is excellent. Of the earlier ones Lex Rex or Shadowlands are a good way into this very fine symphonic prog band.

You might like to give Porcupine Tree another chance with their live album "Coma Divine"... there they mainly play songs from the first albums in which Wilson was the only member playing all (or most of) the songs, but now with the whole band to back him up (with their first drummer). There's just about no metal parts in this album, and in many parts it reminds me of earlier Pink Floyd, like the stuff they did on "Ummagumma" (specially the live disc) and "Live at Pompeii".

I almost recommended RPWL to you, and then my memory kicked in and I remembered recommending them to you before. http://www.progarchives.com/forum/forum_posts.asp?TID=85373&KW=&PID=4451622#4451622
