CYRIL is a melodic (prog) rock band project - founded in late 2010. After 2 albums, the 4 former members of pop/rock band "Gabria" (http://www.myspace.com/gabriaband) - Denis Strassburg (bass), guitar player Ralf Dietsch (ex - Hidden Timbre), keyboardist Marek Arnold (Toxic Smile, Seven Steps To The Green Door, Flaming Row, ex-Stern Combo Meissen) and Clemens Litschko (drums) started a new project with singer Larry B. (Toxic Smile, Ex-Stern-Combo Meissen).

Their debut concept album "Gone Through Years" - out now - released in April 2013 on German label "Progressive Promotion Records", which is already one of the leading labels for progressive rock music.

This album is thematically based on the story of the book "The Time Machine" by H.G.Wells. Musically it features great melodies and vocal arrangements, and even the music works with some "additional" progressive time signatures and harmonic structures, its clearly focussed on the "songs". Beside singer Larry B. it features Manuel Schmid (as Hologram), Amelie Hofmann (as Alice) and Saskia Brödel on additional vocals.

The album was produced by Marek Arnold and Denis Strassburg in Jan-Feb 2013 @ B`side-music / DS-music. Additional recordings by Karsten Zeise, Martin Schnella, Manuel Schmid & Ralf Dietsch.

Arrangements by Cyril, Vocal arrangements by Marek Arnold and Larry B.

Denis Strassburg / bass, programming.
Marek Arnold / keys, sax, clarinet
Ralf Dietsch / guitars, mandolin.
Clemens Litschko / drums, percussion.
Larry B. / vocals

This is a magnificent (concept) album of beautifully constructed melodic rock music. OK - So it's not the most proggy album of the year by any means, with a strong AOR influence showing through at times, but I reckon there's enough here to give them a fairly decent shot at a place in the archives under Crossover Prog...

Edit: Brian Dade did a show on AiiRadio.net last night called 'An Evening With Cyril', where he talks to Marek Arnold and Denis Strassburg...and plays the whole album for you! Approve

And CLEARED for Crossover.
There's a point where "avant-garde" and "experimental" becomes "terrible" and "pointless,"
