I totally forgot about today's synth-pop ... haha. It's not just mall food courts or Best Buys, but it's also in movie previews. The way they use synths today ... it's so nauseating. There was a time, years ago, when you used a noisy synth, at least it had some edge to it, some character. Now they just abuse the instrument. So over the top. Maybe I was just not in the mood for it. Or is there something wrong with me?

Jethro Tull- "Lap of Luxury" (almost gave me nightmares... How could they do this???) Rush- "Passage to Bangkok" plus everything else on side 2 of "2112" Asia- "Heat of the Moment" (how could John Wetton do this?) Daft Punk- "Get Lucky" (more recent, but hearing parts of it is enough for me to never want to hear the whole thing, ever)

That's exactly what I meant. Here in Nashville where I'm living at the moment, there's an oversaturation of acts like that, and I'm thoroughly nauseated by every last one of them.
And I hear you on the synth-pop stuff. So if there is something wrong with you, at least you're not alone! But I feel pretty certain that's not the case.

Mr. Jones and Me by Counting Crows. I just realized that every time I've turned on a particular "Adult Contemporary" radio station since 1993 that song has been on. I think that's enough now.

^ If you ask me is there a song that is an exception to that rule, I'd say Adele's "Rumor Has It", which is actually pretty good. The rest definitely belongs in the shredder.
