Being in the wood industry, I like these. Although in my teens I had a couple album display cases, I found the spine was getting beat up as I slid them in and out.....Cool idea!!
Thanks for sharing

^ You could......that is a VPI-HRX, with one tonearm runs about $15,000.00, probably add another $1,200 for 2nd arm.
Cyber Monday, you could probably get it for $12,000.00

That's one weird looking TT They could also put a third arm with a brush to clean the records

Quite a few of my early albums are mono.
I also have several that were "electronically re-channeled for stereo". Shortly after that stereo became the norm.

Sure it can, but to hear the beauty of mono a dedicated mono cartridge would be ideal.....If your amp or receiver has a mono/stereo switch, change to mono when listening to it. I have zero desire to do that...but this would be sweet!!

Can't a mono record be played with a stereo cartridge? My copy of Floyd's debut is mono and it plays normally

I definitely need more. I've heard a dozen or so but only have that and some Altlantic-era stuff on CD.

GAAAAAH! Some of my favourites of all time in that collection, especially Pet Sounds, Doc, Limbs, Thick, Leftoverture and Fire. Is Sounds an original copy or a remaster?

I don't know "Not Now Music". I would Google that edition and see what people say. I am not a big mono fan, simply because I don't have a mono cartridge...I do read that certain mono versions are stunning, but those are reviews from people that have a dedicated mono setup.
More reading to add to the confusion......http://www.analogplanet.com/content/mo-fis-kob-kind-blah#fFHd5BwH4GLUuuyb.97 You can also check out the Steve Hoffman website, those guys are very critical of their vinyl versions, you can get insight on what versions are highly regarded for sound quality. |

^^ I agree, it's not as captivating Curiously, I bought Museo Rosenbach's Zarathustra on CD (since the LP's are awfully expensive) and it says "24 bit remaster", but it obviously don't have that much depth. It sounds quite great for a CD though.
^They have that Columbia one, but this one also seems interesting: http://www.discogs.com/Miles-Davis-Kind-Of-Blue/release/5643121 I know about that new one, but I don't love the album that much |

Unless you want to spend uber money for KoB, get the 2010 Columbia/Legacy reissue. This one is a great reissue of the classic 6-eye Columbia label. On the spine should be 88697680571, I paid $20.00 brand new for it......The most recent one issued is supposedly even nicer sounding but it is a MoFi release 45rpm 2-LP and sells for about $45.00.
There are many different issues of KoB.....I know some people that have 6 different versions....

^ I have been listening to the CD version of Love, Fear......it misses the mark for holding my aural attention. I really think it has to do with quality of sound, sure it has a pitch black background in between songs..duh! But since the CD is dumbed down to 16bit and the vinyl is mastered from 24bit, I just sense pcs of music are missing on the CD. There is also a bit of loss on the sound staging with the CD, the music is narrow focused, while the vinyl is wide and inviting.
This is where I will stop since to me the reason is my digital gear compared to my analog gear....Regardless there is a difference to me. Must be why I am posting on this "Vinyl" thread.....
