I own 22/25 here.  I have heard the other three, and perfectly comfortable with the 22 I have.  This site is responsible for a few of those I own.

You will open a can of worms.........

Not trying to start World War Prog or anything...Miles is clearly a jazz master but I don't see how in the world his music can be considered prog Wink

Davis is here for a reason, he has a few clear fusion albums, Kind Of Blue is definitely not one of them as incredible as it is.

I went back and read the previous Miles Davis prog debate threads so there's no point in rehashing old arguments.  It just seems bizarre to me that "Kind of Blue" is rated as "Essential: A Masterpiece of Progressive Rock Music" when even it's fans say it's not prog.  Whatever Ermm

Yeah...The Davis thing is a mystery on why he's considered prog since he's jazz all the way, but then there are many entries here on PA that  are odd.
The board is subtitled  your ultimate prog 'rock' resource..... 'nuff said.
btw.....how is it decided what genre a band is placed in? is it a committee vote or does just one person who specializes in that genre make the call?

Only 13, but I listened to all of them, except for The Silent Corner And The Empty Stage  and Kind Of Blue ( I did hear some music of those albums) and Steven Wilson's album.

Joined 3 years ago but didn't do any posting until March this year. And sad to say though I have read many threads I have not read one, nor an intro post,  that explains in detail how they put a band into a specific genre.
Got a link?

The teams put a lot of effort checking and adding bands every day FOR FREE.

Almost all the bands that the Symphonic Team has added in the last years have a thread about them in an open section of the forum.

This year we approved (Among a couple suggested by PM):

  1. 21. Peron:  http://www.progarchives.com/forum/forum_posts.asp?TID=91343&KW=21%2E+Peron
  2. Francis Lickerish: http://www.progarchives.com/forum/forum_posts.asp?TID=90959&KW=Francis+Lickerish
  3. Iraklishttp://www.progarchives.com/forum/forum_posts.asp?TID=91909&KW=Iraklis
  4. Falling Edges: http://www.progarchives.com/forum/forum_posts.asp?TID=92852&KW=Falling+Edge
  5. Taurus (NL): http://www.progarchives.com/forum/forum_posts.asp?TID=96074&KW=Taurus
  6. Alms: http://www.progarchives.com/forum/forum_posts.asp?TID=93869&KW=ALMS
  7. Hokus Pokus: http://www.progarchives.com/forum/forum_posts.asp?TID=94155&KW=Hokus+Pokus
  8. Fright Pig: http://www.progarchives.com/forum/forum_posts.asp?TID=94924&KW=Fright+Pig and http://www.progarchives.com/forum/forum_posts.asp?TID=94487&KW=Fright+Pig
  9. Sea Vine: http://www.progarchives.com/forum/forum_posts.asp?TID=95714&KW=Sea+Vine
  10. XNA: http://www.progarchives.com/forum/forum_posts.asp?TID=95785&KW=XNA
If you haven't found the threads, is because you haven't searched for them...ALL THE TEAMS HAVE A SIMILAR WORKING SYSTEM

We used to have a thread where we informed about every band added, but only 2 or 3 members outside the collaborators cared about, so we decided it was a waste of our free and family time to create a thread nobody cared about.

Now each and every team has a thread in the collaborators section.

Iván

12/25. The only two I haven't heard but still interested on are the Camel albums.
Missing all the eclectic and RPI ones except ITCOCK.
