and Paul McCartney kind of apologized for that coincidence when some kids told him about this back in the day from my memory of reading an internet article about this album.

"A Day In The Life". No questions asked. I remember hearing that as a kid and thinking "That's the Beatles?". Never heard anything like it, with the string crescendo freaking me out at the time.

For me both Revolver and Rubber Soul were better albums and had demonstrably more influence on subsequent developments in popular music than Sgt Pepper. No problems there but I was born in 1958 and had elder siblings who bought all the Beatles releases. Revolver to my seven year old ears was absolutely amazing, Rubber Soul.....hmmm no, nowhere near Revolver or Sgt Pepper.
Sgt Pepper: its release cannot be described easily......it had an absolutely mind-blowing impact on the whole of this Earth (apart from China!)...you had to be there. It changed the face of popular music but that is not to say that I don't prefer Revolver over it.

Same for me, the song is incredibly strong. And then some say that McCartney is superficial. 
But "A Day In The Life" is still a great, powerful, adventurous song, and I also love "To The Benefit Of Mr. Kite".
I vote for "She's Leaving Home", though.

^ Yes, the Beach Boy's are too often glibly dismissed when it comes to innovation and laying the foundations for Prog's Bouncy Castle. It always irks me when certain artists are accused of using the very cliches they actually invented (Floyd and Dylan come to mind)
