I ordered the CD/vinyl package - biggest waste of money ever. The 'album' is a complete shambles. That saxophone is painful to listen to and Mason's drumming is a stilted mess. BTW I am a Floydophile, but this should have been called The Endless Ripoff. If you really want a tribute to Rick buy 'Broken China' - easily the best of all the Floyd solo efforts. Both Waters & Gilmour didn't realise the real genius was sitting in the corner.

I've just pre-ordered the special edition of it from the Floyd site.

That is an excellent rating for a group that may have already put out their best..

I agree...me2 a sentimentalist, its why I always hope Genesis would reunite.

With this comment/attitude from Roger I would not have asked him..

Yes, I've been hearing that version since yesterday morning. It's, what, 4:30 seconds long, I think. People are saying that's not the full version; there's apparently at least one verse missing, and the song's running time is over 6 mins. (That's what someone else posted; don't know if it's true - but I hope so. This is a song with a gorgeous melody - after a solo, the song needs to come back to the melody.

His facebook message would suggest he wasn't asked.

"Some people have been asking Laurie, my wife, about a new album I have coming out in November. Errhh? I don’t have an album coming out, they are probably confused. David Gilmour and Nick Mason have an album coming out. It’s called 'Endless River'. David and Nick constitute the group Pink Floyd. I on the other hand, am not part of Pink Floyd. I left Pink Floyd in 1985, that’s 29 years ago. I had nothing to do with either of the Pink Floyd studio albums, 'Momentary Lapse Of Reason' and 'The Division Bell', nor the Pink Floyd tours of 1987 and 1994, and I have nothing to do with Endless River. Phew! This is not rocket science people, get a grip."

LOL
What?

Since they've buried the hatchet recently and since this is the "last" album, it is unfortunate they couldn't find a way to involve Roger somehow.  I wonder if he was invited and declined?  Or if he was not invited?  Any guesses on that?

I'm really looking forward for the Endless River. It's still Pink Floyd and mr. Wright was a brilliant composer.

Finally this matter seems to clear everything:

[" Gilmour said Wright was "underestimated by the public, by the media and by us at times I hate to say".

The album will be released in November and will included material recorded by Wright before his death at the age of 65. "]

The most high hopes I could have with regards to its release, I'm sure that quite unfortunately this album will not feature music at the height of Summer '68...

Cheers for all the information. I'm really happy to know that the track is longer than the 4:30 clip I heard. Can't say how I'll feel about it tomorrow or in a week, but right now I really like it.

Yeah, I find it great to know that there's more to that song than what they showed. I was getting a bit disapointed by the lack of a solo at the end. But still, even if it's got a bit more than that, I don't think it will be able to top High Hopes as the bands swansong.

What a graceful and peaceful way for one of the greatest bands to slip into eternity!
