This this this. Will check out the other stuff.

Yyyyyyyyyyyeeeaaahhh! Alright Richard! I am as well, very pleased and pro THRESHOLD these days.
Recently I finished buying their entire discography. I absolutely love Damian Wilson's voice. For The Journey is no excemption from his talents. Threshold are still as good as ever.
Hey. You remember this one? This track blew me away a couple of years back. ;)

http://youtu.be/N_kS4lxLkFU

Wonderful choice my friend. Definitely cracking my top 5. ;)

I'm a bit of novice to Threshold. What drew my attention to them a few years back was the track Static which was given away on one of those free samplers. I then got hold of the two CD set The Ravages Of Time which covers quite a bit of ground I think.
Ta for the link. Good stuffClap
I was really disappointed in For the Journey. I'm just left with the feeling that musically the band are a little tired now, this certainly doesn't come close to matching albums like Clone and Wounded Land.Frequency Drift's Over has been really impressing me in the week and a half I've had it.

Sorry to hear that the latest threshold offering didn't grab you, but the great thing about the band is that there is a lot to appreciate throughout their entire discography. Many styles of music are early to present, but as of now I am thoroughly enjoying the bands take on modern Prog metal music. March in progress was a joy and now so is for the journey.
Wilson sounds every bit as good as when he first started out with the band.

I will check out frequency drift. Been hearing good things. :)
Gimmie my headphones now!!! 🎧🤣

I think Iceage's Plowing Into the Field of Love is going to be pretty high on my list this year.

^Thanks for the Syd Arthur rec. btw. I will admit I still have mixed feelings like I've had with a lot of prog this year, but I still enjoyed what I heard.

Been enjoying a number of recent releases from Lunatic Soul (Walking on flashlight beams), iamthemorning (belighted), Pineapple Thief (magnolia) and Opeth (Pale Communion)

Adding new albums from IQ, Anathema, Archive to name a few, it has been a good year for prog.

The new IQ is incredible- probably my pick.

Mastodon- 8.5/10- very good as well.

Disappointing Transatlantic album- WAY too much of the same...

I know I mentioned them in my OP, but have any of you guys checked out the WATTER debut This World?
You'd think that a collab between Slint drummer Britt Walford and Zak Riles from Grails. Hell it even features Tony Levin to boot. Personally I feel this is one of the more beautiful efforts of 2014. Elegant is another word for it.

^ You've just reminded me that I heard one song on the radio just recently, it sounded like something that will fall into the post rock genre, I shazamed it and when I saw the name I checked to see if they were on the archives...I forgot to check them out further more so thanks for the reminder.

No prob, SagiSmile

They aren't featured here yet but currently under eval in post.
Now that I think of it, it's actually very rare that I find modern post rock that really connects with me. This one does though in a huge way.
I think most Floyd fans would dig this album big time.
