Even though I got in fairly early, I missed out on most of the early sets. It was just too hot. Never saw a booster of Legends without a huge markup. The first set I was able to buy was The Dark and at about 2x retail price per pack.
Yeah, that must have been a crazy time to be into the game, with the whole Urza's block catastrophe happening

I'm with you, I typically ebb and flow between being "invested" in getting new music and getting new cards, trying to juggle both just isn't feasible

I've heard of Netrunner and I'm intrigued, the only thing keeping me from exploring it is the lack of players where I go to school

I used to play a lot of Magic back in the 90's. The golden age of boardgames and card games is NOW. I'm an eurogamer (Puerto Rico, Caylus, Tzolk'in, Agricola, etc.) and when it comes to card games, I love deckbuilders like Dominion, Legendary, Rune Age...
If you guys like Magic, you should try Netrunner. It was made by Richard Garfield and the LCG format is ideal for spending less money on a really cool card game ;)
I wish Magic was a LCG....
Two random guys agreed to shake hands. Just Because. They felt like it, you know. It was an agreement of sorts...a random agreement.

Fateful Hour is an awesome gameplay mechanic; I've pissed off many people in what should have been the last turn with that one! :P

I'm all about buying the individual cards I need/want in order to complete decks. Much more cost effective that way, IMHO. Keep me posted on your findings and adventures!

Me neither. I'll probably go to the store next week and get informed... and play of course Tongue I think I'll buy a couple of these Wink

Doesn't the guy look like Harrison Ford? LOL

Yeah, those boosters suck lol. I bought a few and was very unimpressed with them. The card synergy isn't something I care for.

Magic Origins is now out, and the packaging looks slick. I guess it's based around Planes Walkers...? I have no idea what the advantage of this next block of cards is. Every time I seem to catch up on what's going on, the next block is just coming out lmao.

That's why I stick with Modern :)

Same!

Kahns of Tarkir was the start of a downward tend IMO; all of those cards are so boring. Dragons of Tarkir was slightly better, but still not that great.

Magic "Origins" is the latest set, and I don't even know what the hell that actually entails, lol.

I don't even know what's on the new sets Tongue
Standard has predefined main strategies which are fine, but I like to upgrade with cards from older sets Wink

What pisses me off is that most shops just play standard, and I despise not being able to choose the cards I want/having to draft. That's bullsh*t. I'm not paying $10+ to play MtG Roulette with strangers, lol. I need to find a place that just lets people play modern, because that's my jam! Wink
Don't have but I noticed it's useful when I had many cards to exile creatures and the opponent didn't have a single creature... blue/red can be annoying LOL

There are more people that play Modern than Standard here Tongue

I don't care, I'll say it - Standard sucks, lol. I despise having less cards to choose from, though I understand that's part of the challenge.

What makes MTG so exciting for me is the synergy between cards. Standard greatly limits this synergy to an available pool of cards that are usually hit-or-miss.

I'm pissed they're done with core sets. Now we have all these watered-down, diluted sub-blocks of uninspired dragon cards, lol.

Wow magic Big smile Haven't played in a while. All the shops in my hood are lame, so I only ever really played legacy in basements, garages, living rooms, ect. I've played on and off since the onslaught block. The last deck I had...
4x Land's Edge
4x Treasure hunt
24x mountain
24x island
4x land's that can turn into a creature for a turn(in case someone has a counter spell and leaves me with 20 land's in my hand LOL)

Gotta love Elspeth and those angel cards! Very neat deck, sir! Do you find it performs better/worse against certain decks? Mine seems to hold up very well against pretty much everything. It's the closest I've come to far to having a solid, all-around kick ass deck.
True Tongue

Thanks! Speaking of cards you don't know how powerful they are until you play them, Mentor of the Meek is one of those, it really speeds up the game. I'm thinking about removing Smite the Monstrous and Bonds of Faith and putting something with exile instead.
Against "normal" decks it's powerful but against the pros it's difficult because they can play big creatures really soon or have low cost counter spells. With some serious red spells it's quite easy to wipe my battlefield too Ermm

I'll have to share my white/blue another day, it's only good against many opponents now, but it's really fun Big smile

Yes! I'd love to see your white/blue.

Blue is definitely the color you want if your thing is spells/protection. I used to piss people off to no end with cancels and negates, lol. Just control the game until they either mill out, or you create an opening. Very fun to play!

Green has always been my preference. There's just something about mana ramping and getting huge, powerful beasts out into play ASAP that just does it for me. The right combos often end the game by turn 5 or 6!

Thran Golem destroys, especially with some of the enchantments attached!

Overwhelming Stampede is a card I've been looking to get for a long time for mono-green, for obvious reasons LOL

What are you running for a deck right now, Meltdowner? Big smile
Yes, that happens with a lot of cards Tongue The Genesis Hydra should come with a Genesis related flavour text... or a green creature called Giant Hogweed LOL

I know why Thran Golem didn't last long on mine: it's one of the few creatures without hexproof Tongue

So obvious Evil Smile

Here's my green/white, the best deck I have (still lose most of the times against the store's regulars LOL): http://tappedout.net/mtg-decks/06-07-15-greenwhite-humans/
