Hey all, this is just a thread about my deep dislike for the NFL(Football itself is a great game by the way but I just  have a deep dislike for  the NFL).I want everyone to know that I feel this game has been responsible for a lot of negativity in our society(in particular the US). Let me reiterate what an intellectual once said "Why should I care?" Why?" Why should I care about this when there are more important issues to worry about? One thing, I don't have a problem with the game or with sports( I love them actually) but they are just that "games" (and not life). Also, I feel that this game gets an awful a lot of unfair publicity in comparison to other sports. What do ya'll think?

I think Americans love for the game itself is why the NFL dominates over other sports.  And unlike college football, there aren't nearly as many players and teams to keep up with, so it's easier for people to follow.  Put those two things together, and it's nearly unstoppable.  I personally love it for multiple reasons, those of which I already mentioned and for the history of the league, as well, something that NFL Films has documented well over the past few decades.  It all just makes it easy to love for most.

I don't like it that much either but I'm not sure anyone cares about whether I like it or not. I don"t think a thread about it would be a great idea either.

Are you serious because where I am from and the environment am I surrounded there are only two choices:you either like it or are considered a f** or a boy for not liking it. The first situation I described was a bit exaggerated but not too far off. My in laws love it and they look at us differently if we don't

In Alabama it's all about college football. You're either an Alabama fan or a Auburn fan. I could care less about any sport except for motorsports.

It's exactly what I think about our football. In our society everybody has to like it and other sports are worthless Angry

When i watch professional sports, i try not too think about steroids, criminal football player, drugs abuse, it would spoiled the fun. Like it has been said here, sports is a reflection of society, maybe that the hardest case are in Football, but i have to admit that it's easy to understand those who can be shock by the type of behaviour of a player who knocked out his wife and get suspended for only 2 games...If Football is so popular is that people gives more importance to the wins of their favorite team then the behaviour of each individuals. It's like Hockey in Canada, some are complaining about the way it's manage and because it's the only sport that allow fight in the game, but it's still the most popular sport in Canada. To enjoy your sports, it's like going to see a movie you got to put your thought aside and let you take away by the story unfolding in front of you.
Music is the refuge of souls ulcerated by happiness.

While I love playing sports, I despise how much money is allocated to that stuff in this country when there are clearly other much larger issues that need attending.

I understand it's simple market demand, but it is a bit ridiculous IMHO.

OK, ... the mind reels ... . In the title you are saying you don't like American football. Then, in the post you are saying it's a great game. After that, you wrote "this game has been responsible for a lot of negativity in our society", without explaining how it is responsible for that. Then you are saying you have no problem with the game. There's a lot of self-contradiction going on. My question is: what is your stance ultimately on the game?

I personally don't care for the American football and the NFL. I always look at a sport as a pastime, not something worth dedicating a life to.

The same could be said about music.

^ Depends on the individual. If music is all you love and all you have to offer, ... God will show you pity and take you out of this world.

For both sports and music, for 99%+ of the population it is nothing more than a hobby, but for that other <1% who are really good at it or just get lucky it "is all you love and all you have to offer".

Maybe you should choose to be around different people?
