Moraz's Minimoog work on "Relayer" gets my vote.  His solo on "Sound Chaser" is a classic.

Good one. I also really like his solo on To Be Over.

Even better is the synth solo on "Crystal Ball"!

See, I played for a Styx tribute band for a year and while both Crystal Ball and Come Sail Away are good solos, I'd take 'Foolin Yourself' over either of those two.

Ultimately though, my vote goes for the solo in 'Cinema Show'  Utterly beautiful, every note is just about perfect.  Second place would be 'In the Cage'

Haha I just remembered, the "In the Cage" solo was inspired by the song I just posted "Runaway" by Del Shannon. That's why Gabriel sings "My little runaway!" right before it starts.

By our domestic, ex-Yugoslavian progressive rock at the time of analog synthesizers, I choosed this instrumental track which is composed & fantastic Minimoog solo played by Skopje's Classical Music Academy graduated (violoncello) Mr Petkovski, now based in Canada where he works as a professional musician:

I tried to pick something unusual for this....

FAILED.

Has to be the Cinema Show solo.

It's a perfectly composed solo. The different sounds used by Banks, the build up in tension. AMAZING

Perhaps Hawkwind's "The Golden Void" - one of the rare really high pitched solos....

Perhap's Gongs "Chandra"....

Genesis - The Cinema Show (Tony Banks)
