Tossing this one in for those who have the time to sift through music to see whether or not it may be applicable at Progarchives - I found a site that attempts to keep track of new prog metal releases in a more or less orderly manner. Presumably one of many out there, but this one appears to have a nice and orderly setup, and have been in operation for at least some time.
Here's the direct link to the part of that website that chronicles new releases. Happy hunting for those with an interest in such. |

Wow! What an amazing resource for Prog Metal addicts! Could be a double-edged sword as far as our own Prog Metal team is concerned though...With twenty bands/artists currently on their progfreak evaluation list, and another twenty one possible candidates on this progmetalzone site - for this week's update post alone - our team could end up not knowing whether they want a sh*t or a haircut here!! A lot of these acts would probably be borderline cases at best based on the tight acceptance criteria that our team currently work with, and it just goes to show how hugely popular a sub genre Prog Metal has actually become these days...and highlights the growing trend for new acts springing up seemingly everywhere on a more-or-less daily basis, hoping to grab themselves a slice of the cake.

Only thing I would say is use with caution, I would not be suprised if the majority of these bands has only something remotely to do with prog metal.

Looking at the FAQ on the site I get the impression that the site is run by someone that does have more than a mere superficial knowledge about these things at least. |

Prefer that than having to evaluate tons of bands unrelated to this site
