Fresh! (Japan) for RIO / Avant

Fresh! started in 2004 and is still active.  With the help of the band's web site:

and Google translate, I understand the lineup is as follows:

Guitar: Shinichi Ito (HINTO, killing Boy, ex-SPARTA LOCALS) 
Sax: Hiroshi Nakamura (Nakamura Hiroshi Quartet) 
Bass: Nakamata Kazuhiro (Downy, ex-KAREN, etc.) 
Guitar: Fujii Tomonobu (MUSIC FROM THE MARS) 
Drums: Akiyama Takahiko (Downy, ex-KAREN, LOVES, etc.)

Their music is an apparently chaotic (but artfully constructed) blend of 'out' rock and jazz fusion that seems to me to fit into RIO / Avant as it's understood here. Points of reference include Zappa, Trout Mask Replica, Last Exit (and other downtown / harmolodic stuff) and Japanese bands such as Tipographica, Date Course Pentagon Royal Garden and Bondage Fruit.

The latter adds more funk to the basic recipe. Both are really good.
