Shall we take guesses at what Paul might vote for?

There are a few British bands in this poll, but I’m thinking maybe The Watch (with their Genesis stylings) might be closest to his comfort zone, despite their nationality?

Well, I'm nothing if not predictable, because I don't know any of the artists or albums in this poll, although I would've voted for Ayreon, Dream Theater or Porcupine Tree again if they'd been in the poll. Wink
Are they the only post ‘70s bands you know, then?

You should probably give The Watch a listen. I suspect you’d like them.
Read the reviews on their PA page if you want to see more on why.
The only band I've heard of in the poll is Marillion, although I've never heard any of their albums. Some of the post-1970's bands I like are Astra, Blackmore's Night, Dead Can Dance, Delain, Epica, Iona, Leaves' Eyes, Magenta, Mostly Autumn, Nightwish, Star One & Within Temptation. Most of the 21st century prog albums I listen to though tend to be from artists who've been around since the 1970's, although you probably guessed that already. Smile

I know just one... Devin Townsend, not bad but not a super favourite either, so no vote. I admire your energy exploring all this new music though. I'm surely not a 70s only listener, but I get into new stuff slowly, and often with a few years delay.

One of my least favourite TPT albums (though even a least favourite TPT album is still better than a lot of other albums in this list!).

I presume if you like TPT, you’ve heard Wisdom of Crowds, too? Not to your taste? Or simply not as great in your affections as TPT?

That album got me on the bandwagon with TPT almost 10yrs ago, I have not fallen off yet nor do I suspect I ever will. Hearing many of those songs live last December was a massive treat, I hope to see them live again soon.
Unfortunately I'm not a fan of Soord's solo efforts, I prefer the harder edges of TPT, his heavy melancholy flavor is not to my taste, even the latest TPT album has a bit too much of that for me.
IIRC, Wisdom is very alternative rock based, which is fine but yea, not much my cup of tea.

I’ve not heard the new TPT yet, and am in no rush to at the moment. I have every intention of eventually making time for it, but what I’ve heard about it doesn’t make me want to rush to hear it. Your Wilderness is an album I just can’t get into, and while Dissolution is a lot better, I’m still a little put off the new TPT incarnation with Gavin Harrison because of my experience with YW.

My favourite TPT (and the first I ever heard) is Variations. Little Man or Dissolution my second favourite, and Abducted and Magnolia probably rounding out my top five.

For me both Dissolution and YW are fantastic! As is several others, All the Wars is one I can't get into much, Variations is very good also.
Gavin brings a much bigger sound as well a more mature sound, plus his musicianship is off the charts. Although his laid back approach to the latest album is what disappoints for me, he is such a powerful drummer, that's missing on the new one.....It's too much of Soord's melancholy stuff, all my pets have died and my girlfriend just left too!! LOL

I don't think I've ever voted for The Watch in any poll, so The Watch it is.

I've only listen to three of this albums (Dredg, Pineapple Thief and Magic Pie).
Voted for El Cielo.

I've heard MOST of this, and I'm unimpressed with ALL of that which I've heard LOL.

NO VOTE.

First vote for Harvest but it could have been Distorted Harmony, too.
I stand with Roger Waters, I stand with Joan Baez, I stand with Victor Jara, I stand with Woody Guthrie. Music is revolution

I think I passed on this poll the first time as I had only listened to a couple of albums. I am up to 4 or 5.

I guess it's enough now. My vote goes to Wisdom of Crowds.
