Well Roger Waters did a one hour interview here in NYC on Q104 Classic Rock today.  Of course, I'd say that more than half that hour was used to play his 2 new songs, and about 5 Pink Floyd songs... and he spent the rest of the time campaigning for Kerry and slamming Bush.

He did say that his song "Leaving Beirut" is a true story, that he did go there when he was younger and actually hitched around down there.  He talked a little about being asked by Harvey Weinstein to write or update the Wall for Broadway.. a caller asked if Roger planned on starring in it.. and he said "No, I'm sure they will be looking for a younger better looking guy than me".  He also said that he probably wouldn't be touring the new album till 2006 (why so long, I have no idea) and that he's recently been looking at all the footage from the Wall tour to be released on dvd in the near future...

Thats about it.

It's a shame when you find out a hero of yours is a democrat

Why is an Englishman interested in American politics?.......hmmm!!!

It figures....yet another rock star avoiding England's high taxes. It's kind of hypocritical that he's pulling for Kerry then.

All said I still Love Roger Waters....I just wish music wouldn't get political.

There are so many things far more interesting to discuss....and there is always a group of people you are going to offend when you go political

That was the point I was trying to make above

Probably very true... but then, Roger has always been political, both in his personal life and in his lyrics...

Plus he evidently feels very strongly about this matter, so who's to stop him from expressing himself how he wants?

Quote All said I still Love Roger Waters....I just wish music wouldn't get political.

Can't agree more with you Gdub, music is an art that can express ideas or ideologies, but I hate when music is used as an instrument of a determined person or Government.

For example, I love the music from a Cuban author named Silvio Rodriguez, but the guy lives like a king compared with all Cuban citizens, tours around the world (when the normal Cuban citizen can’t leave the country), but the guy has sold his art to Fidel Castro and became a politician instead of a real artist.

I love Roger Water's music, don't share his political vision but I always respected it because he expressed his honest perception, but he shouldn't become the chief of campaign of any political leader.

With this I don't say I agree or disagree with Bush or Kerry, my opinion about this issue is personal, especially because I'm not a USA citizen.

Politics are too dirty and music as any art should be above that.

Iván

I am passionate about politics too but I find performers like Roger Waters, Rage Against the Machine, etc. often tick me off a bit because I do not share their point of view and it ruins my musical experience
