When I listen to Split enz and they play that pub piano, I think of Gentle giant. They have a clever style. The vocalist from Men at work sounds identical to Derek Shulman and they play the flute. I reckon there must be a bit of GG, Tull influences in these bands

Whilst on 80's Aussie bands (okay Splitz Enz are New Zealanders*), always enjoyed Cold Chisel - their Swingshift album is one of the great live pub rock recordings - but never quite got into Midnight Oil.

Cricket - anybody??????

* Worth following up the Phil Manzanera connections with SE, Crowded House etc.

That's interesting. I'm a big Split Enz fan and I also like Gentle Giant a lot, but I never made the link. Do mean the pub piano on the first Split Enz albums?
